Purpose of the document

This document provides outline functional specifications and requirements for the GiveHopeToOthers.com website project.

It is designed to guide system development and design, including:

· Site information architecture

· Site functionality

· Use cases

This is not a project plan. It is a guide for system architecture and development, not for phasing, timelines or deliverables. Scopic will provide project scheduling information during development phase of the project.

Description of the project

The GiveHopeToOthers project is going to be implemented in single phase. Project goals were developed based on discussions with Client, researching achievements from other successful websites, and suggestions from Scopic’s domain consultants.

Main goals of the project

During discovery phase used for analysis, design mockups and specification creation the following detailed list of goals is developed and prioritized as follows:

· Create a new website based on WordPress platform.

· Develop a modern, sophisticated, web-savvy look for the entire website.

· The landing page should implement a solution for displaying floating bubbles.

· Optionally, floating bubbles should be implemented in header of some other pages, but this has to be verified during development and is dependent on performance behavior of the website.

· Incorporate commenting enabled blogging and searching capabilities.

· Implement user interface with high degree of usability.

· Ease site maintenance.

· Create subscriber audience list.

· Website should accept HTTPS connections.

· SEO optimized website

· Create a website logo.

· Create a favicon for the website.

Project’s objective is to create a website and a blog. The website will provide information to people who are looking for someone who is or has been through a similar situation than they went through. If someone sees that another person overcame the same health issue, e.g. became pregnant after many years of infertility, it can give that person a sense of hope. The website will need to be able to sustain a lot of success stories and blog entries for others to read.

Target audience

The website is supposed to target all people from all different ages, ethnicities etc. It will be for people who want to share their story or read about someone else’s story, which they can relate to. The goal will be to have different categories which will appeal to a broader audience, such as: financial; infertility; health/wellness; relationships and life achievements

Common features

The website should implement following requirements:

· Optionally the website will support SSL with HTTPS protocol.

· Usage of long-tail keywords

· Support adding widgets and plug ins.

HTTPS and SSL

At the end of the development phase, if confirmed that https is to be supported for website on a production environment within specific hosting and server configuration, Doman Validated SSL certificate, will be ordered, installed and configured. SSL Certificates validate website's identity, and encrypt the information visitors send to, or receive from a website. SSL Certificates inspire trust and show visitors that website value their privacy. An SSL certificate protects visitor’s sensitive information such as their name or password by encrypting the data during transmission from their computer to GiveHopeToOthers web server.

When SSL is configured, website will support https protocol and user’s browser bar will display a padlock icon and the “https://” prefix in the URL address. Also, Google favors HTTPS-encrypted websites and will push them higher in search results. So SSL not only protects website’s visitors but helps for the website popularity in the search engines.

Sitemap and website structure

The user interface should intuitively guide the visitor to the information they seek, including web accessibility. The site should include the following navigation strategies:

· Menu System as the primary navigation method of the site that is always displayed on each page.

· Each section must have a main page where visitors can navigate to the sub items under the sections, but still be able to get back to any of the other main section home pages.

All pages will include a set of secondary ‘standard’ links, as well:

· Search. A full-text search of the entire site.

· Join GiveHopeToOthers.com. Subscription form

Sitemap of the website is presented in the following picture:

Comments will be implemented using Facebook commenting functionality through a Facebook plugin. Each page enables search functionality which results in a list of the stories and blogs where it is possible to read text directly by opening the story or the blog chosen. If the user does not use the Search function it is possible to browse each Story group or blogs page and choose a post to read.
