UNIT 1 A: WHO`S WHO?

LESSON :Combined lesson

I. OBJECTIVES : By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to use structure of questions:

+ ask & answer some information about their daily routines and other

+ make the dialogs in correctly way

II. LANGUAGE FOCUS :

- Grammar

- New words

- New sounds

III. TEACHING AIDS: pictures, handout work sheets, Pre-Intermediate Students book, the CD player

IV. PROCEDURE :

 

Stage Teacher’s activities Students’ activities
I. Warm-up * Match the words with the pictures - divides the class into 2 sides (A and B). Each side has one representative in front of the desks - Fixes the pictures of subjects on the board – Hands out the words on subjects for two sides - Announces the winner who has more correct words under the pictures - Work in groups     - match the words with the pictures
II. Getting to know each other * Task 1 : - asks Ss to open their books at the page 4 and look through the text and plays CD(1.1) -asks Ss to fill in the empty boxes - walks around the class and helps Ss if necessary     -listen to the task - answer individually  
III. Grammar -explains new grammar theme Word order in questions (grammar bank p,126) * Task 2 : - asks Ss to look at ex 3a p.5, ex 1A p 127 -checks SS answers   - answer individually
IV. Listening and speaking - asks Ss to listen to audio task on CD * Task 3 : - asks SS to fill in the empty boxes -checks SS answers - comments     -Work individually and give answers  
V. Classroom language -focuses on the cartoon and elicit the missing words in the speech bubbles -tells SS to go to Vocabulary Bank Classroom Language on p.144 -focuses on b. gets SS cover the phrases -Work individually
VI . Pronunciation -focuses on sound pictures -asks SS which sounds are difficult for them -slowly spells these words to SS -Listen to audio activities
VII. Homework -gives task to learn by heart a new vocabulary Write the homework

UNIT 1B: WHO KNOWS YOU BETTER?

LESSON: COMBINED LESSON

I. OBJECTIVES : By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to use the present simple to:

+ ask & answer some information about their daily routines

+ talk about their daily activities and their classmate

II. LANGUAGE FOCUS :

+ Grammar

+ New words

+Pronunciation

III. TEACHING AIDS : The CD player, Flashcards(handout material), Pre-Intermediate Students book

IV. PROCEDURE :

IV. Reading - Has Ss look at the pictures (on page 6) and guess the order of the pictures describing - Asks to read the text introduction -Comment -Checks SS answers - Focuses on the text and asks to do ex.2c p.6 - Checks SS answers - Has Ss look through & guess the meaning of the highlighted words " work individually & read the text     " work individually " work individually
V. Grammar - Focuses on the instructions of 3a p.7 and let SS complete the questions - Tells SS to go to Grammar bank 1B on p.126 and explains rule - Focuses on the exercises for 1B on p. 127 -Checks answers - Focuses on the photos of Nina and Claire -Puts SS into pairs, A and B. Tells them to do to Communication 1B Claire and Nina, A on p.108, B on p.112. " work individually     " work in pairs     " work in pairs
VI. Listening -Plays the CD(1.3, 1.4) - Focuses on the questions -Checks SS answers. " work individually  
VII. Pronunciation -Explains the final –s in the third person of the present simple and in plurals can be pronounced in three different ways. -Focuses on the sound pictures. -Plays the CD, pausing after each word and sound for SS to repeat.     " repeat in chorus
VIII. Speaking -Gives SS few minutes to make notes about person they know well -Asks to describe that person " work individually  
IX. Homework -gives task to learn by heart a new vocabulary new vocabulary
