Give some advice on what I need to think about when choosing a job.

Variant I

The problem of choosing the future profession has always been very important. The profession a person chooses in many ways determines his future life. For most people choosing a career is not an easy task. It is one of the most important decisions one makes in life. The properly chosen career makes a person happy and successful for the rest of his life.

This year I'm leaving school. I have already decided what career to choose. I would like to be a psychologist. I want to help people to solve their problems. I want to help them to understand their inside world, to help them to be confident. I love working with people and children. I think it's a difficult job, because one should love people, take care of them, support them. This profession is rather new and hence very interesting. Psychologists work with people from different layers of society. I realize that my dream can come true only if I work hard.

Variant II

I want to become a computer programmer. I am interested in computers. My favourite subjects in school are mathematics, physics and, of course, computer science. My hobby is computer games and computer programming. I have a computer at home and can spend hours working at it. It is much easier to do things on computer, for example to write a composition. I think that the profession of programmer can give many opportunities. Computers are the most rapidly changing sphere of modern technology. We are living in the age of information. So after I finish school I want to enter the university and study computer science.

Variant III

I must say that when you leave school you understand that the time to choose your future profession has come. It's not an easy task to make the right choice of a job. People choose a profession according to their own interests and abilities.

I've decided to try to enter Minsk State Linguistic University. And I'd like to get the profession of a teacher. What had influenced my choice? First of all, I think that this profession is very useful and necessary. Nowadays it isn't well-paid, but it isn't so important for me. I think the situation will improve. This profession has good and bad features. I think that there are even more good, than bad ones. It gives you great satisfaction when you see the pupils who are interested in English. They don't miss any your word and try to work hard to achieve good results. It's a pleasure to communicate with pupils and with their parents, to establish close contacts between you and them. It's also pleasant to make interested those pupils who seem always bored at your lessons. So, these are only several reasons for becoming a teacher and they are enough for me.

So, I'll try to work hard and to enter the University and I hope in my life I'll achieve all I want.

Variant IV

I must say that when you leave school you understand that the time to choose your future profession has come. It's not an easy task to make the right choice of a job. People choose a profession according to their own interests and abilities.

I'd like my future profession to be connected with English and computers. These are things what I'm interested in most of all. English was my favourite subject at school and I can see that I have a humanitarian kind of mind because I was especially good in languages: English, Russian and Belorussian and I didn't like technical subjects. As for computer, I can say that English is just necessary for working with it. Of course special English is used but I think it's impossible to study only technical language. So, my aim is to joint studying English and working with computer.

I think that to be a historian is also very important today. People think that it is possible to live without looking back at the historical past. But it is a mistaken view. We cannot live without history because it is around us. By analysing the past we can avoid the mistakes in the future. If people do not use the experience of the past they will inevitably make mistake in the present. Historians have always tried to understand past human lives and societies. History helps to understand the global historical process. Historians interpret the processes of the past to explain the processes of the present and foresee the processes of the future.

I 2. Does a person need to possess special qualities to become a good specialist in this or that particular field? Why?

Every person has got his or her interests, values, goals, aptitudes, skills and special qualities. Having these special qualities means you’ve got a talent for this or that profession. Every person needs to realize his or her talent. This realization will bring emotional, mental, physical and spiritual well-being. People who work from a sense of passion are usually the happiest people and they can make other people happier and bring benefits for them.

I 3. What questions will you ask your future employer at a job interview?

What is a timetable for me?

Have you got any special rules to regulate a working day?

Is there any dress-code in your office?

Are there any additional financial rewards for the job?

What is the period of holidays?

What am I supposed to do?

Are there any prospects of being promoted?

I 4. Give me some advice on how to behave at a job interview to create a positive impression on the employer.

An interview is mostly about selling your personality. From the way you enter the room to the clothes you wear, plenty of opportunities exist to let your personality shine

There are some useful tips… To begin with, dress appropriately to the place where you’d like to work. Dress in a way that shows your personality while still following the company’s dress code. Enter the room with a friendly, confident smie, greeting the hiring manager with eye contact and offering a firm, professional handshake. These behaviours will help you to make a positive first impression on the interviewer. Being late for an interview is not the way of behaviour which is usually regarded as reliable. Once you are there be positive and do show that you want to fill in the vacancy advertised. It is a good idea to show that you are familiar with peculiarities of the company. Having done so, you demonstrate that you took them seriously. Give honest opinions, while being polite and expressive. When you give your answers to the questions, add examples to strengthen your points. For instance, give an example of when you offered great service or helped resolve that problem you said you are good at solving. Speak openly about your abilities, but with respect to the interviewer and the company.

When applying for a job, be sure to bring all the requested supporting documents in the format requested in the job listing. These documents may include an application form, a resume or CV, a portfolio, letters of recommendation, certifications, and other supporting documentation.

These behaviours will help you to create a positive first impression on the employer.

I 5. Some people think that it is necessary to have a good command of a foreign language to get a good job. Do you agree with this?

Variant I

Yes, I do. English is becoming the language of international trade. It is essential for the development of international contacts in the sphere of political, social, business and cultural relations. It enables people to find work almost anywhere in the world. Modern world is a global community. So as to be a member of this community you should know a universal language. It’s English. It’s the language of the Internet, all international conferences, different instructions for modern devices and so on. That’s why, you’ll be a good candidate for any job if you speak a foreign language.

Variant II

If you work with foreign countries I mean selling and buying or even producing something, well, you had better be able to use language quite effectively, but if you are the person whom none can stand in for you may not be able to say a few words. Knowing any language will help you to gain a good knowledge of something without asking for help, but in itself a language is no more than yet another line in your CV if you have other things to boast of.

Variant III

I’m absolutely positive about it. Modern world is a global community. So as to be a member of this community you should know a universal language. Only in this case you’ll be in process and keep pace with the time. English is a universal language. It’s the language of the Internet, all international conferences, different instructions for modern devices and so on. That’s why you’ll be a good candidate for any job if you speak a foreign language.

II 2.Do you want to have a part-time job, when you are a student? Why (not)?

To me, one of the best moments to try initial careers is student time. I think students should take a part-time job. This is the best period in human’s life to absorb knowledge and learn experience for their future job. Taking a job when people are young turns them into skillful employees. Taking a job beside studying is a good choice for the young to solidify their position in the future job.
(For example, learning English with people who have the same nationality with you is never enough, and taking a job requiring a good demand of English can make it up, you can practice English with foreigners by working as a part-time tour guide, translator or interpreter. Knowing the application of the knowledge got from books is the most necessary part of studying, and a part-time job can help you in such case.)
Finally, when doing a part-time job, students can earn money by their own so that they can grow up. Why can people grow up in this way? Students usually spend their parents’ money, they do not have to work hard so they hardly know its value. When they have to work to earn money for themselves, they will sure find how difficult it is. Furthermore, young people have to deal with many awkward cases that require them to react quickly though sensibly to get the best result. Such environment of work does not allow youngsters to be childish, indeed, they need to grow up in their thought and their action to adapt to the world of adult and business.
To sum up, I can say that doing a part-time job does students good. They can get more experience for future job, practice the lesson got from classes and grow up. For the reasons I have mentioned, I am going to seek a job for myself and do it with all my best to grow out of my own ebullient thought and action.
