ASSISTANT Guidelines AND ANNOUNCEMENTS
Check the assistant schedule for your times in the course and when you are facilitating the session alone.
On each shift one assistant has the responsibility for laundry & storeroom runs, and one for the food.
On the appropriate shift one assistant takes charge of work meditation preparation. On set-up day check that sufficient cleaning supplies are ready.
Early shift
When waking up the participants at 4:45 a.m. ring bells (3 times) and announce: “Sit up and hold your koan.” Make sure everyone sits up. Wait a few moments, then announce: “You have 15 minutes to put away your bedding, brush your teeth, prepare the room and be ready for the first session.” (First day, add: “Do not take a shower now.”)
