3) Surviving unemployment
Frank Walters, 35, is an example of the growing problem of unemployment, but his story also shows the strategies needed to survive it.

It was last year when last year what last year the company where Frank worked closed down and he was told that he had lost his job. It was a tremendous shock. At first, he was very upset about about it about that thing , but he was determined not to get depressed. No sooner he had No sooner had he Not sooner had he received the bad news than he bought the local newspaper and started looking at the job advertisements.

Meanwhile, Frank and his wife Bella realised that needed they needed to save money. Bella started to mend the children's clothes, rather than buy new ones, just as her mother did her mother her mother did it when she was a girl. And whereas they used to buy new clothes without thinking about it, now they only do it do so if they are things that they really need.

That Something they have learned to do since they started trying to save money is to plan ahead. For example, they always make sandwiches when when they go to the park with the children, as buying them from a shop is too expensive. It is by doing things like this that how they can make sure that they have enough money to live on while Frank continues to look for a new job.

4)

Revisiting a place from one's past is often strangely disappointing. Where The village where I used to live when I was a child has changed a great deal. That It was last March when I went back to visit it with my younger sister. This What was the first time we had returned there for nearly thirty years.

I hardly recognised it when we drove in, and nor she nor she did nor did she . It was the weekend, but no children were playing on the village green as we had done so done when we were small. Not only the houses looked did the houses look did look the houses different, a few of them were no longer there. What that All what All that was left that we could remember from our childhood was the shop in the centre of the village.

We spoke to the shopkeeper to see if she knew any of the people we had been friends with when we were children. We mentioned a number of names, but not a single name did she recognise she did recognise not a single name did she recognise not a single name – none of them was still living in the village. My sister and I looked at each other; we both felt as if we had been cut off from our own childhoods.
