Topic 8: What are your predictions for the future?

From time to time I think about the future. I`m optimistic about it and I`m sure life will be better than now.

First of all, there won`t be any ecological problems on the planet because robots will clean it very well. Then people will live longer. The scientists will create a cure against all deseases and people will be healthy, fit and strong.

Also, people will be well-educated. They will be able to study online and their teachers will be robots. We will have flying cars and use ecologically friendly fuel for them. On holidays we will go to the moon and other planets by space shuttles. All the housework will be done by robotic housemaids and children will have robot pets at home.

Moreover, people will be happy and friendly. There won`t be any wars on the Earth. People will enjoy their life.

As for my plans for the future, I want to be a ? because I find it interesting.

Topic 9: Tell me the story

A strange story

When Tom was seven years old, his family left the big city and moved to the countryside. He was very excited because their new house was near a beautiful forest.

One day, he decided to go for a walk in the forest but he lost his way. Tom tried to get back but he just went deeper into the forest. He looked around and started calling for help, but no one heard him. Tom was confused and scared because it was almost dark, so he sat under a tree and began to cry.

Suddenly he heard someone coming. It was a boy of his age. His name was Philip. He asked him what happened and Tom told him that he was lost. Philip said not to worry and helped Tom to find the way home. Philip said goodbye and left Tom before he could thank him.

When he got home his mum was talking to a policeman. They were both very upset. Tom told them that he lost his way in the forest. The policeman said that the forest was very dangerous because eight years ago, a young boy named Philip MacMann lost his way in that same forest and never came back.

Tom didn`t say a word. He wanted to tell them about the boy who helped him but he was afraid they wouldn`t believe him. Tom couldn`t sleep that night. He never saw Philip again and he never went to the forest.

A walk in the park

When Elizabeth was ten years old, her family left the countryside and moved to the city. She was very excited because their new house was near a beautiful big park.

One day, she decided to go for a walk in the park but she lost her way. Elizabeth tried to get back but she just went deeper into the park. She looked around and started calling for help, but no one heard her. Elizabeth was confused and scared because it was almost dark, so she sat on a bench and began to cry.

Suddenly she heard someone coming. It was a girl of her age. Her name was Maria. She asked her what happened and Elizabeth told her that she was lost. Maria said not to worry and helped Elizabeth to find the way home. Maria said goodbye and left Elizabeth before she could thank her.

When she got home her mum was talking to a policeman. They were both very upset. Elizabeth told them that she lost her way in the park. The policeman said that the park was very dangerous because ten years ago, a young girl named Maria Josephson lost her way in that same park and never came back.

Elizabeth didn`t say a word. She wanted to tell them about the girl who helped her but she was afraid they wouldn`t believe her. Elizabeth couldn`t sleep that night. She never saw Maria again and she never went to the park.
