Hainan Provincial Government International Students Scholarship

Hainan provincial government has established the “Hainan Provincial Government International Students Scholarship” in order to internationalize the higher education and accelerate the development of international education in Hainan Province, and meet the requirements of constructing Hainan into an International Tourism Island.
Categories of applicants
Prospective international students who wish to study at Hainan University for bachelors degree in Chinese Language, master’s degree and doctoral degree.
Types of the Scholarship
2.1 Scholarship For undergraduates: 20,000 Yuan(CNY) per student per year. Duration of the scholarship is 4 academic years.
2.2 Scholarship For master’s degree students: 23,000 Yuan(CNY) per student per year. Duration of the scholarship is 3 academic years.
2.3 Scholarship For doctoral students: 25,000 Yuan(CNY) per student per year. Duration of the scholarship is 3 academic years.
Note: The scholarship covers tuition fee, accommodation fee on campus (two students share a room), registration fee, and medical and accidental Insurance, other fees and living allowance should be self-afforded.
Application time
From March 1st to May 1st.
Eligibility
To be eligible, applicants must:
-be a citizen of a country other than the People’s Republic of China, and be in good health;
-be a high school graduate below the age of 30 when applying for undergraduate programs;
-be a bachelor’s degree holder below the age of 35 when applying for postgraduate programs;
-be a master’s degree holder below the age of 40 when applying for doctoral programs.
Application Procedure
Please contact International Students Admission Office, College of International Cultural Exchange, Hainan University directly to consult and apply. Please submit a package of complete application documents in duplicate to us prior to the deadline May 1st.
Application Documents
Applicants must fill and provide the following documents truly, correctly and completely in Chinese or in English, and in duplicate.
6.1. Application Form for Hainan Provincial Government International Student Scholarship.
6.2. Photocopy of the passport (Visa page is needed if you have).
6.3. Notarized highest diploma & Academic Transcripts; if the applicant is a campus student or an employer, he has to submit Certificate of Studying issued by the school which he’s studying in, or Certificate of Incumbency issued by the unit or company which he’s working for. Documents in languages other than Chinese or English must be attached with notarized translations in Chinese or English.
6.4. HSK Test Report Form (if any) or documents which are able to prove the Chinese competence of the applicant.
6.5. Original version and photocopy of Foreigner Physical Examination Form (printed by Chinese quarantine authority).
6.6.Two letters of recommendation in Chinese or English.
6.7. Applicants for master’s degree or doctoral degree studies must provide the Form for Provisional Acceptance of International Student by HU Professor and Plan of study or research in China (no less than 1000 words for the master’s degree applicants, while no less than 1500 words for the doctoral degree applicants).
6.8. Published articles (if any).
Note: The above documents should be bound on top left corner (in duplicate) and mail to the Admission Office, CICE, Hainan University within the required time. You can send a scanned copy first and then mail the hard copies to our address.Whether the application is successful or not, the application documents will not be returned.
