The clever little bird

The golden apple

Once there lived a king.

He was very kind and funny.

One day he said: I have a golden apple.

I shall give it to the man who will tell me the biggest lie.

Many people came to that king.

They told the king lies.

All wanted to get the golden apple.

But the king did not like the lies.

That is all very well, and it can be true – he said.

One day poor man came to the king.

He said : oh, king, give me back my gold.

What gold – cried the king?

The gold which I gave you last year.

Did you forget about it?

– said the poor man.

I didn’t take any gold from you.

It is a lie.

– cried the king.

If it’s a lie, - said the poor man, - give me the golden apple.

Always remember to put the glass down

A psychologist was walking around the lecture hall, while teaching stress management to an audience of eager students.

As she raised a glass of water, everyone expected they’d be asked the “half empty or half full” question.

Instead, with a smile on her face she inquired, “How heavy is this glass of water?”

The answers rang out ranging from 8 oz to 20 oz.

She replied, “The actual weight doesn’t matter.

It all depends on how long I hold it.

If I hold it for a minute, its not a problem.

If I hold it for an hour, I’ll have an ache in my arm.

If I hold it for a day, my arm will feel numb and paralyzed.

In each case, the weight of the glass doesn’t change, but the longer I hold it, the heavier it becomes.”

She continued, “The stress and worries in life are like this glass of water.

Think about them for a while and nothing happens.

Think about them for a bit longer and they begin to hurt, but if you think about them all day long, you will feel paralyzed – incapable of doing anything.”

Always remember to put the glass down.

Puppies for Sale

A store owner was tacking a sign above his door that read "Puppies For Sale."

Signs like that have a way of attracting small children and sure enough, a little boy appeared by the store owner's sign.

"How much are you going to sell the puppies for?"

he asked.

The store owner replied, "Anywhere from $30-$50."

The little boy reached in his pocket and pulled out some change.

"I have $2.37," he said.

"May I please look at them?"

The store owner smiled and whistled, out of the kennel came Lady, who ran down the aisle of his store followed by five teeny, tiny balls of fur.

One puppy was lagging considerably behind.

Immediately the little boy singled out the lagging, limping puppy and said, "What's wrong with that little dog?"

The store owner explained that the veteriarian had examined the little puppy and had discovered it didn't have a hip socket.

It would always limp.

It would always be lame.

The little boy became excited.

"That is the little puppy that I want to buy."

The store owner said, "No, you don't want to buy that little dog.

If you really want him, I'll just give him to you."

The little boy got quite upset.

He looked into the store owner's eyes, pointing his finger, and said, "I don't want you to give him to me.

That dog is worth every bit as much as all the other dogs and I'll pay full price.

In fact, I'll give you $2.37 now, and 50 cents a month until I have him paid for."

The store owner countered, "You really don't want to buy this little dog.

He is never going to be able to run and jump and play with you like the other puppies."

To this, the little boy reached down and rolled up his pant leg to reveal a badly twisted, crippled left leg supported by a big metal brace.

He looked up at the store owner and softly replied, "Well, I don't run so good myself, and the little puppy will need someone who understands!"

The clever little bird

A little bird comes and sits under a tree.

A big grey cat comes to the tree too.

He sees the little bird.

"

I'm hungry"- says the cat and comes near the bird.

But the little bird is very clever.

She sees the cat and jumps into the tree.

- Hello, little bird- says the cat.

- Hello, grey cat- says the little bird from the tree.

- Good news!

- says the cat.

- Good news?

What news?

- says the little bird.

The cat says- Very good news.

!

All animals are friends now!

Come to me.

I want to speak to you.

I like you very much.

- Yes!

- she says.

- You are my friend, I know it.

You like me and I like you.

But from this tree I can see the forest.

- And what do you see in the forest?

- says the cat.

The bird says- I see many dogs and they near the tree.

- Dogs!

- says the cat and wants to run away.

- Don't run away.

The dogs know that all animals are friends.

- says the bird.

- I know the news, you know the news, but the dogs don't know the news.

- says the cat and runs away.
