MotivationMotivation is a condition— usually an internal one— that initiates, activates, or maintains the individual’s goal- directed behavior (Shiraev& Levy, 168, 2013). According to the article, the two dimensions of motivation and a reciprocal model of the creative process, motivation is a creative process that involves both extrinsic and intrinsic models of motivation. Within the intrinsic model the desire to excel may be the result of the process of creativity itself, whereas, the extrinsic process denotes a measure of outcome from the creative process (Forgeard& Mecklenburg, 255, 2013).
Within an Eastern perspective, the creative process and performance of motivation may be more collective and based upon moral values or beliefs benefiting a group, whereas, in Western societies, goal direction becomes more individualistic emphasizing personality traits and cognitive performance (Forgeard& Mecklenburg, 257, 2013). Within cross-cultural research low and high levels of achievement were found based upon the standards that each culture placed before its individuals (Shiraev& Levy, 177, 2013).

While explaining some universality within any culture a consideration could be given that expression brought through the creative process in motivation and that pro-social behavior can contribute to any culture in so much that even after death something remains (Forgeard& Mecklenburg, 258, 2013). History manifests itself through the highly motivational aspects of an individual’s life and even collectively can set precedence within any society.
