Objectives of the discipline
Studying philosophy can help students to enhance their problem-solving capacities, ability to organize ideas and issues, and ability to distinguish what is essential from what is not; to become better able to look at things from a variety of perspectives, to understand different viewpoints, and to discover common ground among them; to learn how to critically examine their own views as well as those of others; to develop the ability to understand and explain difficult material; to learn how to distinguish good reasoning from attempts to manipulate opinions, to construct sound complex arguments, and to evaluate others’ reasoning; to develop good interpretive, comparative, argumentative, analytical, and descriptive speaking and writing skills that will allow them to communicate their ideas in a clear and powerful way.
Tasks of the discipline
The student should know: the subject, objectives, principles and basic techniques, the most prominent representatives of the philosophy and achievements. During the study course student is required to learn basic categorical apparatus of science. In addition, understand the course material as a necessary discipline for the theoretical understanding of its place in the world, as well as help to better absorb other subjects: political science, sociology, psychology and others.
Prerequisites
In order to study the course "Philosophy" essential is the knowledge acquired in high school and at the University, especially at the following disciplines:
- "History";
- "History of Kazakhstan";
- "Human and society";
- "Cultural Studies".
Post- requisites
Knowledge of the course is required to study subjects:
- "Sociology",
- "Politics",
- "Psychology"
