TEXT BUILDING STRATEGIES 1

NOTE TAKING STRATEGY : BUILDING A GRAPH

Notes are written work, including visuals, symbols and numbers which help you record and remember things. It is very important to develop your note taking skills as at university information may be complex, which requires that you should look at it in more depth and more critically. When taking notes it is essential that you avoid writing down things in a full, polished way but write down only important information or details. You should also as much as possible shorten what you write so that only key words and phrases give the main ideas of the reading. Also use margins for your own ideas, questions, comments or criticism.

Charts or diagrams are good note taking devices which give a visual idea of the structure of the information.

Fill in the diagram with the information from the text.
