Use the Past Simple or the Past Continuous instead of the infinitives in brackets.

Note.Remember that when we want to express a period of time in the past, we usually use the Past Simple. The Past Continuous expresses an action going on at a definite moment in the past.

M o d e l s : We livedthere for 10 years.

They waitedfor us for an hour.

1. We (to walk) in silence for a long time. Nobody (to want) to speak. 2. We (to walk) in silence when he suddenly (to ask) me if I (can) help him. 3.
