9. The problems of pollution have already been discussed at a large number of conferences and some of them have been sponsored by the UN.

10. I smelt that something was burning and suddenly saw that smoke was rising over the roof of the house.

 

Ex. 10.Use the proper form of the Participle or the Infinitive.

An Accident

Last night I heard car breaks 1)______ (screech) and people 2)______ (shout) in the street. When I looked out of the window, I saw a crowd of about twenty people 3)_____ (stand) around a young boy 4)_____ (lie) in the street. Next, I saw the driver of the car 5)_____ (approach) the crowd and 6)_____ (kneel down) by the boy, he was 7)_____ (look) very anxious. 8)_____ (watch) the drama from my window, I began 9)_____ (consider) the boy’s family. Then a few minutes later, I saw a young woman 10)_____ (run) towards the scene and 11)_____ (push) her way through and crowd. Minutes later I saw them 17)_____ (run back) to their ambulance with the boy on the stretcher followed by his mother.
