Once your resume is produced, proofread it: slowly, carefully, and repeatedly. Check for errors in spelling, punctuation, and spacing, and for missing words and sentences. Use your rough draft as a guide. It may seem like a waste of time to proofread a one-page resume four times. Do it. A fourth pass can turn up a typo, a missing comma, an extra space between words that you overlooked the first three times around.
If you decide to reproduce your resume, use a machine that turns out high quality copies. Again, use 20 pound stock with a 25% rag content. Whether you make copies on a self-

service copier or use a service representative, run one copy and look it over carefully. Every letter, every number, every punctuation mark should be sharply defined and dark enough to be read at a glance, but not overly dark. Check for dots and other unwanted marks. Sometimes the glass screen through which your resume is photocopied needs to be cleaned. If there's anything you're not happy with, make sure it's fixed before you make additional copies.
