Being one of the serious and widespread diseases of modern mankind with growth tendency and often mortality of people from different countries, tuberculosis is in the spotlight of the WHO. Despite the widespread struggle against the disease, including in Azerbaijan, the problem is still urgent and is the subject of study by many experts.
Given the insufficient coverage of the issue from the dental point of view, we studies oral cavities of 149 patients with various forms of pulmonary tuberculosis (52 women, 97 men) at the age of 20-58 years.
The dental examination allowed to reveal in these patients a wide range of symptoms of affection of the oral cavity, including numerous cases of dental caries (89.8) with high indicators of CSR (carious, filled, removed) teeth - 7.1, with features of color changes in the hard tissues of teeth, up to a dull gray color, softening of the dentin in the form of porridge-like mass, despite the depth of the carious cavity, asymptomatic course of complicated caries, both visually and radiographically represented in the form of foci of chronic odontogenic infection.
Also there wese reveled uneven atrophy of the edges of the dental process with a background of removed teeth and periodontitis.
On the oral mucosa there was revealed a symptom in the form of “apple jelly”, contained in tubercles, and secreted on pushing on them.
Morphological studies of 18 smears-imprints from the surface of the oral mucosa and tongue found inflammatory and dystrophic processes, impaired microvascular vessels and other manifestations of cell-tissue pathologies.
Thus, we may say that the oral cavity patients with tuberculosis contains a express focus of odonto-and stomatogenic infection, accumulated on the general background of intoxication of organism of patients.
In this connection, oral cavity sanation, the elimination of foci of odontogenic infection should be considered as an important link in the complex treatment of patients with tuberculosis with active participation of a dentist, conducting medical check-up of the patients.
