The Role play “At the shop”.

Customer: Good morning, can you help me? I want my guests to be served unusual tea today.

Seller: I can recommend tea “Darjeeling”- an aromatic and astringent tea from India with a hint of almonds and wildflowers. Your guests will be surprised unexpectedly with its smell. We also have fresh crunchy almond biscuits –they are just for your tea.

Customer: What about classical blend?

Seller: Take “Earl Grey”. This tea will never be out of fashion! Bergamot oil added to this tea in 1830 made it super popular in Europe, not only in Britain because of its elegant fragrance, aroma, colour and strength. It produces in Sri- Lanka (former Ceylon Island).

Customer: Maybe you have any exotic sorts?

Seller: Of course, we have. Chinese black tea “LapsangSouchong”. It is fired over smoking pine needles which produces a striking smoky odour and flavour. Real tea-lovers prefer green tea ”Silver Snail”, “Phoenix’s Eye” or “Chung Me”. They are the ideal health drink with the lowest caffeine content. Come to our shop next week, you will also buy tea”Roybush” from Kenya or compound flower tea from Peru and Paraguay.

Customer: Are they expensive? As I understood you had told about the elite teas?

Seller:Some sorts of tea are really very expensive but we have very interesting collection of them for selling. By the way, tea – lovers can appreciate any of them in our cafeteria. Welcome!

T.: Children, what another sorts of tea do you know?

P1P2P3…”Lipton”, “Ahmad” , “Springfield”, “Reston”, Heylees”, “Akbar”, “English Breakfast”, “Hillton”, “Hyson”, “Dilmah”.

P3: Every Tea company tries to attract customers to its production. “Lipton” Tea House suggests different season lotteries, “Reston” puts a lot of surprises into the tea boxes and cans (teaspoons, souvenir magnets, badges etc.). “Ahmad” Tea Club encourages tea-lovers to learn the past of Great Britain and popularize historical events − you can see printed reproductions of famous pictures on the paper tea- boxes:

“Horse guard Parade,London, 1750”

“Opening of Tower Bridge, London, 1894”

“Houses of Parliament, 1852”

“Old Horse guard Parade, London, 1750” etc.

T.: Who can demonstrate how to lay the table for tea?

P4: To lay the table for tea you should have a white (blue) cloth and napkins matching the cloth. In the middle of the table you can put a vase with flowers. Every person has a cup and a saucer, a tea- spoon, a fork, a knife. Then you put sugar-bowls, a jug with cream or milk, dishes with cakes, waffles, scones, finger sandwiches. At last you bring a tea-pot with already made tea.

T.: Does anybody know how to make tea?

P5:Everyone knows. But now some people hurry in the morning and put tea leaves not into the tea-pot but into their cups and add boiling water. That’s wrong! They drink not tea but something disgusting and tasteless.

To make tea you should fill a kettle with cold filtered water and boil it. Then you warm tea-pot. Put some spoons of tea into the warm pot and pour freshly boiled water. Then the tea-pot must stand in a warm place 3-4 minutes. Stir it well, serveandenjoy your tea!
