As an employee of a local travel company, you have been asked to attend customers of the company. The company has a large membership, with many experienced travelers among its regulars, having people who travel on both domestic and continental trips.

The tourists are interested in looking a tour. Unfortunately the “off the brochures shelf” booklets seem to be very similar, with many of destinations being repeated. The tourists want to visit the more high profile and predictable areas, but also want to have the opportunity of visiting the lesser known resorts. They have therefore asked for some form of a visual aid representing your choice of travel destination around the world.

The tourists represent a variety of people, who all like different experiences from their holiday, and therefore are asking you for examples of cultures, festivals, food, drink, etc. and any other issues that may help the decision making process.

 

Assignment Instructions

 

1. Produce a visual aid that highlights the destination:

- Presentation;

- a booklet, describing features and characteristics linked to the chosen destination.

2. It will be evident that your visual aid shows forethought with regard to its design, informing the clientele of a chosen destination.

3. Your booklet will be functional, showing and highlighting the different characteristics that can influence people choosing a holiday destination. Your booklet will be brief.

4. Learners are required to select one destination and describe the factors and features that determine its appeal, i.e. accessibility, climate, attractions, cultural and economic.

When describing the appeal, learners must link this to different visitor types, highlighting where the destination has wide appeal to many types of visitor. For chosen destination learners should consider at least three different types of tourists.

Paris has lots of provision for school groups and has daytime activities from the cultural (eg the Louvre) to fun activities such as Disneyland Paris. In addition, in the summer a beach area is created on the banks of the river Seine.

Travel time is short and can be very cost effective by coach or budget airline. There are three airports with public transport links which along with the metro, mean that a coach is not required once the city is reached.

There is a good choice of budget-priced accommodation specifically for students and a range of low-priced fast food outlets. Paris can appeal equally to couples looking for something special and is widely acknowledged as being a romantic city, ideal for honeymooners or couples celebrating an anniversary. It is easily accessible by air by scheduled airline form many regional airports or by Eurostar, making it suitable for short breaks.



Paris has a wide range of centrally-located quality accommodation, fine restaurants and international cabarets and entertainment. Couples can wander among the artists in Montmartre, browse through renowned art galleries, take in magnificent views from the top of the Eiffel Tower and relax on cruises on the river Seine.

There are also exceptional shopping opportunities ranging from designer fashions to antiques.
