Scene # 10. The One with Brazilian Business Coffee

S – for Don Serchio

A – for Senora Ana

Brasilia. Business Office.

 

A: Good afternoon! Welcome to Brazil! My name is…Ana and I am a Sales Manager.

K: Oh, Senora Ana, nice to meet you. (KISSING)

S: I am Serchio and I am responsible for public relations.

I: O Don Serchio, we are so glad…(HANDSHAKE)

S: Would you like a cup of coffee? You know that coffee is mainstay of Brazil. Drinking coffee is a kind of demonstrating an affinity with building business relationships…

K: Oh, so interesting… yes, with pleasure! (SITTING DOWN)

A: So how was your flight? We’ve heard there were some problems on the tarmac. Plus this terrible overbooking of seats…It seem that the whole journey was rather tedious…How did you manage to cope with jetlag?

I: Oh, you are so careful. We are feeling better now. But still it was a real nightmare from start to finish.

S: Oh, I’m so sorry! Was your flight cancelled or delayed?

K: There was a flight delay, unfortunately. And the quality of food was poor, like it usually happens to processed and packaged food. Oh yes and leg room was extremely small! I have nearly broken my legs…

A: And as for the business travelling priorities? Did you use these opportunities?

I: We used business lounge with WiFi and computers. These lounges are very helpful during travelling on business.

S: I hope you are enjoying the conditions and amenities in your hotel!

I: Yes,of course! The staff is pleasant, also it is very comfortable with Internet access, special rooms for seminars, that are equipped with sophisticated devices.

A: Oh, I am so glad! Despite horrible 25-hour flight you are so amiable! And the hotel is probably situated on the seafront. You must have a perfect view!

K: Yes, indeed!

S: (SMILE) I think now we can set to discussing the proposal!

Presentation

I: Yes, we would like to start with presentation. T will draw the overall profile, then we’ll go through functions of a car its class and the main positions of the target audience.

K: To begin with, the key message of the vehicle is CARFULNESS: it is safe, it is practical reliable and comfortable! It’s made specially for big Brazil families. It’s just for the whole family travelling! What is more, it is adopted for different landscape: you’ll ride it easily in mountains and feel the unforgettable satisfaction while rushing along freeways.

I: There you can find place for everything. Every single member of the family will praise the unique and reliable features of the car during the whole journey. Not of the least importance, the affordability of the car it is for every single middle-class car owner, it is really
EVERUBODY’s IN!!!

A: Oh, that’s terrific, we are captured by the idea!!!! Go on!
And what can you say about the technical side: life-saving technologies?

K: Well, we have modified air bags, seat belts – they guarantee your safety. In addition, we can offer some special innovations. For example the car will lower the speed when crossing the corner unexpectedly. Besides it is equipped with a warning system to let you know about close danger.



S: It is really practical. Still, you know that there is a common problem of fuel consumption. What is the breakthrough in this sphere? What solution have you found?

I: Oh, It`s the ingenious brainwave of our Japanese innovators. It is the revolutionary energy-saving piece of equipment. Just imagine tiny space-saving robotic vacuum cleaners reproducing energy from the dust!

S: Oh, yes, it is a real eye-opener!

A: Well, let’s move to another point. As you know, the level of unemployment in our country is really high, so, how many work places are you going to offer?

K: Lots of! We can speak about thousands!

A: And I have one more question: where are going to sell your cars besides Brazil?

I:Well, it is UAE, mostly – you are aware that we are distributing the high-priced up-market models, too.

S: I would like to ask, why are you so interested in Brazilian market?

K: The specific features lie behind our decision. I can say just: long roads and large population. And you understand what I mean…

A: Can you mention any traditions of your company? I would like to know about corporative hierarchy and about motivation of rank and file…

ONE: Well, we suppose that the main goal of a leader is making people feel centred, doing something that gives their work meaning. In addition we give the workers an opportunity to develop their skills through coaching or by training. We are always moving people to action.

S: And I have personal question: what is your marital status?

ONE: Hahah…We are not married…

A: Oh, I think we’ll get on like a house on fire!

S: And your boss is a male? How are you building relationships between you and your employer? What kind of leadership policy is one implementing?

ONE: Well our boss is a female, she is a true leader who is decisive, charismatic and really motivating.

S: Yes we heard about Russian business women. Indeed she posses all leadership skills to pull your company through it latest difficulties.

A: Yes you know what M Thatcher said ‘A leader is someone who knows what they want to achieve and can communicate that!’ Even if it demands being ruthless.

AS: It is so nice! Thank you! It was my dream!

A: Well, now we have discussed all the points…

S: So, I think, we can sign the contract!
