SUMMARY:The Novosibirsk EducationUSA Advising Center is a comprehensive resource for students, teachers, and individuals interested in education in the United States. The EducationUSA Adviser provides consultations on researching and applying for study in the US, preparing for standardized tests such as the TOEFL, SAT, GMAT, and GRE, seeking financial aid for study, and participating in US-government-sponsored exchange programs. The Adviser assists in the organization of educational fairs, gives regular presentations on education-related topics, develops relevant contacts in regional academic institutions and other administrative duties essential to the Advising Center. This is temporary full-time position with a possible permanent extension. The position is based in Novosibirsk with some flexibility in scheduling and regular travel required.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
Work online with regional applicants to programs for study in the U.S., alumni of US government programs, representatives of local and regional universities and government, and the general public;
Identify audiences for online and in-person outreach in Ural and Siberian regions, create database of contacts and conduct outreach to promote U.S higher education;
Develop and conduct online workshops related to access to U.S. higher education (for example: application preparation; fields of study information; pre-departure orientation);
Handle all logistical issues such as securing location, preparing materials, and contacting participants for seminars, meetings, testing, etc.;
Use social media, Skype, email and other online tools to interact with prospective students and their parents interested in U.S. higher education;
Create and maintain EducationUSA Russia LinkedIn profile for alumni.
Create summary reports on reforms and trends in the Russian higher education system;
Start and supervise a chapter of Competitive College Club;
Develop relevant contacts at regional academic institutions and conduct regular outreach trips.
QUALIFICATIONS:
University graduate with a degree in relevant field (Education, International Relations, Social Sciences, Library Science, Linguistics, or other appropriate field)
Fluent written and spoken English-language
Knowledge of US higher education system and admission process for international students
Study experience in the US strongly preferred
Excellent communication and presentation skills, especially online
Experience working with students, either as a teacher or counselor
Commitment to cross-cultural exchange
Proven ability to work in a team environment
Familiarity with US Standardized Tests
Computer skills: Internet research, Skype/AdobeConnect, social media, word processing and spreadsheets
Flexibility and willingness to travel regularly
