Complaining About Myself - Thats Embarrassing!! Submitted By : Carrie

I work in a detail oriented job and one day a customer called to complain that someone he spoke with a few weeks ago selected the wrong doctor's name on his card. So I corrected it and apologized for the mistake. Being that this was the second call I recieved for the same mistake that day, I promptly emailed my immediate supervisor and the department manager about telling the staff to be more careful. I explained the mistakes of a few are embarrasing the company and makes us look silly in front of the customer. I also explained in the email how I am thorough enough to ask the right questions of the customer in order to select the correct name from our database. I also gave the identification number of the customer in question so that the management could see for themselves what I was referring to.

Proud of my eagle eye and attention to detail, I hit the Send button and went to break.

When I got back from break I excitedly opened my email to read my immediate supervisor's reply. She CC'd the manager saying that in fact that particular example I mentioned in my email was MY mistake. It seemed when the customer called a few weeks earlier it was ME who took the call and it was ME who selected the incorrect name from the database. My supervisor suggested nicely that I take my own advice.

I cannot believe I did that! I could have at least not given the customer id # so that the management would have not been able to see it was me. Needless to say, I will be much more careful about complaining in the future.

Yellow Contact Lenses - Thats Embarrassing!!
Submitted By : Anonymous

This story is more funny than it is embarrassing, but this really did happen to me several years ago when I was a high school senior.

I got home really late one night from babysitting the brats across the street. I was dog-tired and just wanted to go to bed.

I went to remove my contact lenses and put them to soak. I must have been half out of it, because instead of reaching for the contact lens solution, I ended up reaching for a bottle of Murine eye drops instead

. I didn't realize what I had done until the next morning when I went to put my contacts in. Suddenly everything I looked at had this yellow tint.

While I'm no fashion statement, I'm sure I wasn't the only high school boy who would rather die than be caught dead having his crush see him wearing glasses! So I wore my contacts to school and didn't think anything of it. It didn't darn on why everyone kept staring at me until I looked in the mirror and noticed that the yellow contacts against my baby blue eyes was the recipe for bright neon green eyes! They were about the same color as my cat's eyes. It was so funny. My friends all thought I was stoned or something.

What's worse, is when I tried calling different optical companies, asking if there was anything I could do to restore my contacts back to their original condition. One poor receptionist about fell out of her chair laughing so hard when I told her what had happened. I ended up having to buy a new pair of contacts, but had to put up with green eyes for 2 weeks while waiting for the replacements to arrive. My parents were none-too-happy about having to buy new contacts, but they sure laugh about it now.
