Automatic Frequency Adaptation

· The system assigns the frequency to the user terminals via an automatic process, minimizing installation process.

· If a user terminal radio link suffers from interference that degrades its quality below a certain BER threshold, there is an automatic frequency adaptation to another frequency (assuming there is one which is available within the frequency band of this sector) in which is less prone to interference.

5.1.4.5 Modular & Fault Tolerant Architecture

· The Base Station composes modular Basic Units, each supporting 4 Mbps over 1.75 MHz. This modularity allows for a minimal start-up configuration of a single stackable unit at the base station up to a maximal configuration supporting more than 200 customers.

· WALKair’s modular architecture reduces startup costs, minimizes initial investment and maximizes gradual growth capabilities.

· WALKair's fault tolerant system and architecture, in which each stackable unit is independent, minimizes downtime and allows for quick recovery.

· Redundant outdoor unit maximizes availability

5.1.4.6 Monitoring & Management

· WALKair's complete management and control capacities include performance monitoring and remote software download. Management and control are available using an SNMP-based management station which runs on SNMP or HPOV for UNIX platforms. WALKair is managed via one of the following ways:

Þ In-band - a remote EMS can communicate with WALKair via the BU’s Telecom interfaces

Þ Out-of-band - a remote EMS can communicate with WALKair via dial-up modem which is connected to the BU’s serial interface.

Þ Locally - a local EMS can communicate with WALKair via Ethernet interface).

· Configuration and maintenance is also available using Local Craft Interface (LCI) via RS232 serial interface.

· WALKair’s management offers monitoring functions, parameter changes, traffic control, performance monitoring, statistical and auditing functions, Display and log exceptional events

(*) It is possible, based on special requirement, to double the bandwidth per cell from 65Mbps to 130Mbps, (assuming there are 28Mhz available for use) by applying different polarization to adjacent sector antenna within the same base station.

3 Bandwidth may be increased by dual polarization configuration
