Aims:

Didactic aims: to form the following components of competence in students:

· Educational (cognitive)component:

a) to form student’s knowledge on mastering special terms of pharmacy;

b) to develop students habits on enlarging lexical minimum ;

· Practical (operational) component:

a) to form students’ skills on listening translating the text with a help or without help of a dictionary

b) to form skills on extracting necessary information from the text, summarizing and rendering it for communication.

• Communicative component:

to form listening, reading, speaking, writing skills.

· Self-studying component:

a) to form students’ habits on studying professional medical supplementary literature in informative sources.

Urgency of the theme:Students of the pharmaceutical faculty should know professional terms connected with their future speciality.

Tasks:

a) to teach students to read the text with making comments.

b) to teach students to give definitions to the terms

System of administering medical aid to the people of Kazakhstan

Maintenance and kinds of medical activity

Healthcare is a collection of political, social, economic, scientific, legal, medical, sanitary and hygienic, anti-epidemic and cultural measures aimed at preserving and strengthening the physical and mental health of the citizen.

Medical activity includes professional activity of individuals who have higher or secondary professional medical education, as well as legal persons carrying out activities in the field of health care.

Kinds of medical aid:

1) Pre-doctor care;

2) Qualified medical aid;

3) Specialized medical aid;

4) Tertiary health care;

5) Health and social care;

Pre-doctor care is administered by health professional, who has secondary medical education. In an emergency pre-doctor care may be provided by persons without medical education: self-help, citizens mutual help, help of sanitary officer, help of specially trained representatives of a number of “social” professions (so-called paramedics) – policeman, fireman and other.



Qualified medical aid is provided by health professionals with higher medical education in diseases which do not require special methods of diagnosis, treatment and medical rehabilitation.

Specialized medical aid is medical assistance provided by specialized experts in diseases that require special methods of diagnosis, treatment and medical rehabilitation in the form of consultation of “highly specialized doctors” (cardiologist, neurologist and others) or in specialized departments of general hospitals.

Tertiary health care is medical care provided by experts specialized in diseases that require the use of new technologies of diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation (for example, endovideosurgery, transplantation).

Health and social care is medical care provided by dedicated professionals to the people with socially significant diseases and diseases that are a danger to other. According to the decision of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated December 4, 2009 socially significant diseases include: tuberculosis, HIV (AIDS), hepatitis B, C, cancer, diabetes, mental disorders, cerebral palsy, myocardial infarction (first six months), rheumatism and other.
