❑ How have you selected the volunteer? (Is the volunteer a member of your organisation? Have you involved the volunteer in your current activities? Have you done the interview by skype, by phone, face-to-face...):

This volunteer is applying through an open call for applications that was posted on NGO Iskra’s pages in social networks. At Iskra, we are open to working with young people from all regions of Ukraine and from all kinds of social, ethnical, and economical backgrounds. Should this volunteer be selected, we will do our best to support both the young person and the hosting organisation.

❑ What kind of theoretical preparation will you provide the volunteer with? (Insurance, rights and responsibilities of the volunteer, SO and HO duties, tutor duties...).

Preparation of the volunteer before departure consists of a Pre-departure training that is based on the “EVS Volunteer Training: Guidelines and Minimum Quality Standards” issued by the European Commission.

The following elements are an integral part of the Pre-departure training:

- General concept of volunteering - Youth in Action Programme and European Voluntary Service - Rights and responsibilities of different actors in EVS projects - Motivation for and expectations from own volunteer service - Information about host countries and host projects - Intercultural learning and culture shock - Crisis management and conflict resolution - Personal project planning - Technical issues connected with EVS (i.e. getting a visa)

❑ What kind of emotional preparation will you provide the volunteer with? (Cultural shock, conflict resolution, expectations, contacts with past volunteers, keeping the volunteer motivated...)

Issues such as culture shock, conflict resolution and expectations for volunteering are covered in our pre-departure training.

As for contact with other volunteers, we have had over a dozen volunteers who are doing or did their EVS in Spain. The new volunteer is of course welcome to contact all of them and will get support and advice on the move to Spain and the start of the project before departure.

❑ Does your National Agency provide pre-departure trainings?

No. Ukraine does not have a National Agency.

❑ What kind of formation will you provide the volunteer with? (Language course, cultural information about your own Country and the hosting Country?)

During the Pre-Departure Training we do a row of exercises on intercultural learning that should help the volunteers develop a new perspective on their own culture as well as on the cultures of hosting countries. We do not provide any specific language training because our volunteers depart to different countries and need to learn different languages, but as will see, the volunteer applying to you already speaks some English and Spanish on the level that is enough for everyday communication. So we are confident that they will adapt very quickly to the new environment in your project.

❑ How will you support your volunteer during the service? (Regular contacts, problem solving, leading crisis...)

During the placement Youth NGO Iskra is committed to staying in touch with our volunteers. This includes e-mail exchanges and Skype calls about once per month. We also want to stay in contact with you during our volunteer’s service to hear about the volunteer’s progress. In case of any conflicts between you and the volunteer, Iskra is prepared to work as a mediator to help solve all misunderstandings.

❑ Have you already got any partnership in Spain? If yes, please write in contact data and reference.

These organisations have hosted our volunteers:
Fundacion INTRAS, proyectos3@intras.es

Asociacion Xuvenil Vrenza, sve.vrenza@gmail.com
Asociacion La Rotllana, angela@rotllana.cat
Concello de Boqueixon, sve.boqueixon@gmail.com
Oficina Jove Alt Urgell, treball.alturgell@oficinajove.cat

❑ According to the KA1 – EVS grant, what is your cost as sending organisation?

Between 250 and 300 Euro, depending on our agreement.

For any question, please don`t hesitate to ask us. Creating a partnership means building together. Thank you very much.
