Q:What is DJMAX?

A:

"DJMAX" is a unique online music game by famous Korean music arcade "EZ2DJ" and contains many of the composers from that series. DJMAX brings with it real-time DJ Battle modes, Free Modes to practice, Course Modes to challenge missions, DISC collection for special achievements, and other features as well. Most songs also contain bright themed animations and visuals adding to the overall experience.

DJMAX Online allows for 2 key modes, 5 Key and 7 Key ONLY. There are no other options to play unfortunately. Sorry.

DJMAX Online supports up to 6 players in a battle room, either free-for-all, or teams of 2v2 or 3v3.

Q1:What are the System Requirements for DJMAX Online?

A: The requirements are as follows:

CPU

RAM

Graphics Card

Operating System (Anything above 98,ME,2000, and XP also works)

Direct X

Q2: How do I set up my DJ Nickname?

A: Your DJ name is set up after logging into the game for the first time. You are greeted by a screen which asks for your Name, AGE, and Gender. MAKE SURE THE AGE IS OVER 18, as this will lock songs if under that number.

Q3:How come I see a black screen when loading the game?

A:Make sure that your graphics card drivers are up to date and that the game was installed correctly. Additionally, DJMAX Online DOES NOT support the following graphics cards: Intell, Vodoo, Matrox.

Q4:How do I get rid of the game start settings screen?

A: Click on the check box in the lower left corner. However, if you wish to bring the screen back, hold down CTRL when the game is loading.

Introduction to basic gameplay operations.

Q1: This is my first time playing DJMAX? Is there a tutorial?

A: On the top left corner of the screen is the教学button. Here, an NPC character introduces you the basics of the game. However, it is in Chinese.

Q2:The NPC Guide took me into free mode… now what do I do?

A: You need to select Ask To Wind EZ. Also when you select the tutorial, it removes all your gear from you until you quit the tutorial, which can be quit at any time.

Q3:What are the basic rules of DJMAX?

A: DJMAX is a rhythm action game. As the song plays, notes will fall down towards a bar at the

bottom of your screen. This is called the “PLAY-Q” bar. Once a key is pressed, your accuracy is measured based on the note’s position from the “PLAY-Q” bar. The “PLAY-Q” bar consists of 2 smaller bars that alternate between key presses of the colors blue and red. If a key is not when a note hits this bar, a MAX 1% is received instead of a BREAK. When you hit multiple notes successfully, your combo goes up. If you miss a note, you receive a BREAK and loose HP. Once your HP goes to 0, the game is over.

Q4: What are the basic controls of DJMAX and how do I change them?

A: DJMAX has 2 key layouts by default and can be changed in the settings menu under “KEY”

.

Here are the layouts for 5 KEY:

A-TYPE “ZSXDC”:

A control layout that represents the style of EZ2DJ and Beatmania. The middle note is the same color.

B-TYPE “DJ SPACE JK”

A control type representing more PC Rhythm Games such as O2JAM and osu!Mania. The middle note is a separate RED color.

Custom:

If neither of these styles suite you, you can change the note lay-out to anything you want in the settings menu

Q5:What are the game modes in DJMAX?

A:

Free Mode:Freestyle practice mode. Select any song you have unlocked and play to your hearts content and gain MAX and EXP. You can also freely view music videos in this mode.

Ranking Mode: Play 3 stages of songs of increasing difficulty. The higher your level allows you to play harder songs at lower stages. Ranking mode has a harder accuracy window than normal play and you may be able to play songs that you have not unlocked yet. Ranking mode scores are posted on the DJMAX Online website and saved onto your profile.

DJ Score Battle:Allows 6 players to play against each other at once. The winner is the player with the highest score at the end of the song. Effectors can also be turned on or off for a fair playing field. The master can select any song he has unlocked, regardless of the level of the rest of the room. This mode can also be played in 2v2 or 3v3 team battles.

DJ Item Battle: Another form of DJ Battle, this time, utilizing items instead of raw score. Throughout the song, players will pick up items that they can use on other players or themselves, by pressing the corresponding number key. The longer you hold the item, the more powerful it gets, up to level 3. The winner is the player with the most HP at the end of the song, or is the last surviving player and as such, accuracy is not recorded during the song.

DJ Mission Battle: A secret game mode under Score Battle when the master selects the “RANDOM” disc. In this mode, all players are affected by random items throughout the song, the strength of the items determined by the level of the mission. The winner of the mission gets a special mission disc and everyone who clears the mission, earns a large percentage of bonus MAX. If all players get a game over, the song ends. In addition the level of the missions appears in the following order 1-1-2-1-1-2-1-1-3 and the room master must have a playcount of at least 40 for a level 3 mission to appear.

Course Mode: This is DJMAX Online version of Xtreme Challenge mode. Each course has a specific song list to be played, a special requirement to fulfil, and a reward if that mission is completed. For example a Course may challenge the player to get 90% accuracy and 2000 combo. Rewards are calculated at the end of the course based on how much EXP/MAX was earned from all songs. Each course also requires MAX to play and sometimes a specific disc.

Q6: How to create a DJ Battle room??

A: Click on the DJ Battle room create button and select item or score then select the difficulty:
FREE:All song difficulties can be selected
EASY:Only EZ patterns can be selected.
NORMAL:Only NM patterns can be selected.
HARD:Only HD patterns can be selected

MX: Only MX patterns can be selected.

SC: Only SC patterns can be selected. (Originally, would also require a Premium room)

Once you have confirmed the game mode, difficulty, name, and password, press ok.

Q7:How is MX Style different in DJMAX Online?

A: MX, or Maximum, Style works a bit differently in DJMAX Online compared to the other modes. For starters, there are no Play-Q bars. Because of this, many MX patterns can have multiple notes being pressed at once, even all 5. Also MX Patterns feature something called “FAULT” which is when a mistimed note is pressed. This causes the player to loose HP but does not decrease their combo or score. In addition, MAX 1%s are very hard to obtain in this mode because of the absence of the Play-Q bar. MX patterns require 50-200 MAX to play.
