Printing and Binding

Two copies of the BA Thesis must be submitted to the Validated Studies Registrar before the specified due date. The thesis must be bound in a hardcover with the tile of the thesis written on the front.

 

The book edge should also have the following information: last name and first initial of the thesis author, the full or abbreviated title of the thesis work, the code ‘BA in IRES’, as well as ‘Warsaw 2011’. An example of the cover and required book-edge is given in Appendix E.

 

The thesis must be printed on one-sided, quality A4 paper. The margins of the pages should be 2.5cm on all sides.


 

 

APPENDIX A:

SUGGESTED THESIS TIMETABLE

 

The following timetable is meant to serve as a guide to determining your work schedule but deadlines for submission are absolute. Even if it were possible, any prescriptive timetable would detract from the fact that students can differ in terms of the amount of time they wish to devote to different parts of the research and the nature of the research can influence the timing as well.

 

Semester V (Winter 2010)

By the first week of December Selection of the Supervisor and the topic of the BA Thesis.

By the end of the semester Writing the Thesis Prospectus and defending it.

Semester VI (Summer 2011)

 

When it should be completedWhat should be completed

· February 2011 The beginning of regular meetings with the supervisor and agreement/clarification of details of programme of work for the semester. Approval of the topic; review of scholarly production on it. Literature review.

 

· February-March, 2011 Research methodology and justification. Data collection and analysis; writing up research findings. Conclusions/recommendations.

 

· The 1st week of April Mid-term submission of a thesis advanced draft.

 

· The last week of April Review of the final draft by the supervisor.

 

· April 20 – May 25 Review of the draft by mgr Joanna Zientek (checking if the thesis is being written in correct English).

 

· May 25 – 30 Thesis delivered to the binder. Bounded thesis submitted to the supervisor for final approval.

 

· By May 31, 2011Submission of evaluated thesis (2 bounded copies) to the Validated Studies Registrar.

Delayed submission will result in postponing the defence examination until October/November and postponement of reception of Wales Degree.

 

· June 1-15 The Thesis comes back from the internal reviewer and is prepared for the UW External Examiner’s approval.

 

· Late June Examination Board and External evaluation.

 

· June 20 – July 1, 2011 Defence examination.

 

NOTE: Students who will not have filed the thesis to the Validates Studies Registrar till the last day of September, will be under the obligation to repeat the seminar course (worth 10 ECTS points) with the defence examination postponement till February/March of the next year.
