Google Android Devices Not Compatible

A pop up window declaring the Android device is not compatible will show when an Android device we do not support is used, however in some cases, PlugAir might work. Below are some devices we tested and do not support currently.

When PlugAir Fails Authentication

When you see a big “X” mark in the “Add Plug” screen and the process is not going any further, the authentication of PlugAir has failed.

Please try the following steps one-by-one and check if you can read the PlugAir data on your device. The following steps and this guide are created based on iOS devices. You may try to replicate these steps below on an Android device.

STEP 1.

Retry inserting PlugAir into the headphone jack.

If you have a cover or a case on your smartphone or tablet, remove it and insert PlugAir until you hear the snap sound (indicating that PlugAir device is fully inserted).

STEP 2.

Check if you have the latest version of the App.

You can check this by visiting the App Store, and searching “plugair.” If the App indicates “UPDATE”, please update the app. If it indicates “OPEN”, then you already have the latest version of the app.

STEP 3.

[Only for iOS 7 users.] Check if you’ve given the App access to the Microphone.

To check this, go to Settings > Privacy > Microphone and see if the setting is “On” for the App.

STEP 4.

Check if you have any sound settings limiting the volume.

Since PlugAir uses the headphone jack and gets information from sound waves, some phones will require you to raise the volume. If you have an Android device, turn up the volume to Max after you’ve inserted PlugAir.

If you have an iOS device, we automatically raise the volume to read the PlugAir device. When it doesn’t work on iOS devices, check Settings > Music > Volume Limit and ensure it is turned “Off.”

STEP 5.

Close all the apps that are running in the background.

Some apps interfere with the data connection between the PlugAir device and the app. First close all the apps, including the App. Then re-launch the App.

To close all the apps in the background, double click the home button on your iOS device, and close all the apps which are showing.

STEP 6.

Try re-downloading the App.

First, delete the existing App by holding down the icon, then tapping the “X” showing on the top left of the App icon. Visit the App Store, search “plugair” and re-download the App.

STEP 7.

Restart your smartphone.

Press and hold the “Sleep/Wake” button on the top of your device, then select the button to turn the power off. Then, press and hold the “Sleep/Wake” button again until you see the logo to turn your smartphone back on. Select App after this is done.

If all of the above fails, please contact contact@beatrobo.com. Some devices might not be supported yet, but we are working everyday on supporting more devices in the near future.

Thank you.
