Conclusory Notes on Culture

As scientists, researchers, and professionals in psychology it is very important to have an understanding of the causes, mechanisms, and affect or outcome of human suffering and disease. We may also find ourselves in a situation where an individual or group of individuals desire to excel or achieve through different meaningful and structured paradigms. Because of the vast and ever changing nature of a diverse and adaptable global setting, it becomes in our better interest to have the means necessary to achieve these goals.

What are the causes and differences that set each individual or group apart from another? Where do we draw the line on what should be something considered universal as it can benefit a collective group or culture, and what are the principles due to an individual uniqueness and autonomy? Questions such as these make cross-cultural psychology important and meaningful within the global dialogue. Through reasonable and meaningful dialogue of exchange more peaceful and pro-social behaviors can exemplify a particular individual or a groups’ inclusive respect for one another.

Each cultures tradition, practices, and history can have a profound effect upon how we perceive others and the importance of how future interactions brought from those expressions may benefit social groups. Learning to respect the creative abilities of others can allow for a more meaningful integrity within our own creative process and it is this creative process that allows for a reflection of higher transcendence.

Helping others benevolently is a desirable positive quality that can only be maintained through a better understanding of each cultures own unique qualities and capabilities. Understanding the pro-social behaviors associated with that uniqueness and through implementation of mechanisms associated with positive change and development capabilities can be enhanced and positive social change can occur. That is both the imperative and the desired outcome of cross-cultural psychology.
