Food and accommodation and pocket money

The Rock Solid Foundation will provide you with food money and pocket money weekly. This is mentioned in the activity agreement and we always follow the advice of national agency and the Erasmus+ rules in this. The first payments you will receive in cash, and after you are registered and you have your social security number we will help you to open a Dutch bank account so you can pay everywhere with card and don’t have to walk around with cash all the time.

You will prepare food and drinks yourself, cooking, doing the shopping and the daily cleaning of the house together.

You will be provided with a bedroom which will have a desk and cupboard. We will also provide bed linen and towels for you during the year. You will share the kitchen, a toilet and bathroom with those you live with. You will have to look after the monthly budget together for food. You will discuss this with each other at the beginning of the year.

When you work in a family you also eat with the family and the children. Therefore it’s not always possible to join the other volunteers at lunch or dinner.

Of course you may have moments when you go out with friends, at work or unable to attend a meal. This should be communicated with the other volunteers so that food is not prepared for you.

Insurance

It is important that you are insured against medical costs, accidents and third-party liability during your voluntary year. There is arranged an insurance by AXA for your EVS.

Keep in mind that your projects will provide insurance against accidents and third-party liability during working hours.

As an EVS volunteer you are insured against medical costs under the EVS-plan administered by European Benefits Administrators. The plan also includes:

· permanent invalidity & life insurance

· third-party liability in private life insurance

· assistance & repatriation costs

For using this insurance we have several info graphics and info to explain how it works in case you have questions, we will post these in the facebook group.

We do suggest that you take out travel insurance in the case of theft or loss of articles during the year

EVS training

As an EVS volunteer you will be expect to attend to several trainings during the year. The first is an on-arrival training by National Agency in the first weeks of arriving and a midterm evaluation organized by National agency in the spring of 2016.

The exact dates will be given to you directly when they are clear.

Language course

To get the most out of your voluntary year in The Netherlands, it is important that you learn Dutch as soon as possible. Therefore Rock Solid offers you a Dutch language course during the year two times a week in which you learn the basics of the Dutch language. The more you practise your Dutch at your projects, the sooner you will pick up the language. It is not intended that you can speak perfect Dutch but that you can get by and are able to make contact with the children or clients and your colleagues you work with. The days are set for now on every Tuesday and Thursday morning in “het Westhoffhuis” in Lunteren from 8.45 till 10.15. These are compulsory and you are expected to attend.
