Remove the rubber cover

7 Install the rim and headlight in the headlight shell, install the three retaining screws and tighten the screws securely.

8 Check the operation of the headlight.

11 Totest the bulb, first ensure that the metal bulb body and the bottom terminal are clean and free of corrosion; clean them with a knife or wire wool. Use jumper wires to connect the bulb body to the battery negative (-ve) terminal and the bulb bottom terminal to the battery positive (+ve) terminal. If the bulb fails to illuminate, renew the bulb.

12 Check that the contacts inside the bulbholder are clean and free from corrosion. Install the new bulb in the bulbholder, then press the bulbholder into its socket.

13 Reconnect the headlight bulb and install the rim and headlight (see Step 7).

14Check the operation of the sidelight.

Headlight bulb - SW, SX and SY models

15 Disconnect the wiring connector from the back of the headlight bulb.

16 To test the bulb see Step 2.

17Remove the rubber cover from the back of theheadlight unit, noting how it fits (see illustration).

18Turn the bulb retaining ring anti­clockwise, remove the ring, then remove the bulb (see illustrations).

19Fit the new bulb, bearing in mind the information in the Noteabove. Make sure the tabs on the bulb fit correctly in the slots in the bulb housing, and secure the bulb in position with the retaining ring (see illustrations 7.18a and b).
