9 Carburettors -

separation and joining

Warning: Refer to the precautions given in Section 1 before proceeding

Separation

1 The carburettors do not need to be separated for normal overhaul. If you need to separate them (to fit a new carburettor body, for example), refer to the following procedure (see illustration).

2Remove the carburettors (see Section 6). Mark the body of each carburettor with its cylinder location to ensure that it is positioned correctly on reassembly.


 


3 Unscrew the heater hose union retaining screws and detach the unions, noting how they fit against the carburettor bodies (see illustration 7.2).

4Remove the screws and washers securing the choke plunger linkage bar to the carburettors. Lift off the bar and remove the collars and the return spring, noting how they fit (see illustrations 7.13a, b, c, d and e).

5Alternately loosen the nuts on the left-hand


end of the threaded studs which join the carburettors together. Remove the nuts and withdraw the studs (see illustration).6 Make a careful note of how the carburettor synchronising screw springs and throttle
