Nowadays people don’t write letters as often as before. Do you think it’s true?

Let’s talk about mass media: TV, newspapers, radio, the Internet. Which of these do your family like?

The mass media play an important part in our lives. Newspapers, radio, TV and especially the Internet inform us of what is going on in this world and give us wonderful possibilities for education and entertainment. They also influence the way we see the world and shape our views.

The main source of news for millions of people is television. People like TV news because they can see everything with their own eyes. You can enjoy a large variety of programmes, such as chat-shows, documentaries, sitcoms, quiz-shows, series, sports and current affairs programmes, variety shows, and so on. The most unpleasant thing about TV is commercials that are very annoying. In our country most people watch cable or satellite TV with dozens of channels.

Still, many people prefer the radio. It's good to listen to in the car, or in the open air, or when you do something about the house.

Newspapers don't react to events as quickly as TV, but they usually provide us with extra detail, comment and background information.

The Internet has recently become another important source of information. Nobody owns the Internet, and no organization controls its use. Now millions of people around the world are logging into libraries, call up satellite weather photos, download computer programs and music, take part in discussion groups. Its main advantage is that news appears on the screen as soon as things happen in real life and you don't have to wait for news time on TV.

The most popular source of information in my family is the Internet. Radio and TV are a kind of background to our everyday life, while having meals, doing some housework or travelling. Besides, our family subscribe to 1-2 national and local tabloids.

Do you consider all means of communication effective? Why?

It depends on the situation. Radio and television are used to broadcast the emergency signal. The Internet is the fastest to deliver information, but you need to have the traffic. Any means of communication can be effective if you know how to use it properly, that’s why they are widely used for publicity and propaganda.

What questions would you ask a famous TV host?

1. Do you like your job?

2. How do you select the audience for your show?

3. Have you ever been taken to court?

4. What celebrities are the easiest to deal with?

5. What will you do if your guests start fighting in front of the cameras?

Which Internet sites would you recommend me to visit?

It all depends on what kind of information you need. The Internet already delivers 100.000 channels for all interests. You should start with any browser, such as Google or Yandex, they will prompt you some sites where you can find the necessary data. There are also a number of social networks such as Facebook, VK, Odnoklassniki, where you can find old and new friends, swap photos and news, etc.

Nowadays people don’t write letters as often as before. Do you think it’s true?

Yes, it’s true. Traditional letters are not popular anymore, but chatting, texting SMS and e-mailing are. You don’t have to buy envelopes, stamps, look for a postbox to post your letter, you just press a button, and the information will be mailed in no time.
