LEAD – IN I. Use the prompts to make sentences about yourself:

How to become a … With the music business, there is no easy way in! The first thing is to sort out your sets and mixes. If possible, buy yourself some decks or check out what is available in your local area. You may find that local youth clubs or studios have stuff that you can use and experiment with. Look out for workshops in your local area; these are fairly few and far between though. Contact your local youth and leisure service and see if they are planning to run any events. If not, see what else they can suggest within your local region. Look out in your local library and papers for events and talk to your Regional Arts Board. The Guildhall School of Music & Drama runs a range of summer courses in London that could be worth investigating. Try to visit as many clubs as possible and find out which ones have open-stage try-out sessions to gain experience. This offers the ideal opportunity to get you noticed as well as gaining invaluable experience. Once you feel confident enough, put together a demo and send it to as many places and individuals as you can think of. A good start would be to buy NME and other industry magazines to find names and addresses. If possible, network with other DJs; ask them for advice and contacts. It's amazing what you can pick up just by watching other people and if you show enthusiasm most people should be willing to help! You could even see if you could 'shadow' a local DJ for a few nights to get experience. Once you have made contacts then try and publicize yourself and get gigs. Remember that everyone has to start from the bottom, so try and take anything that if offered to you and you never know what might result. b) What should a specialist do to master professional skills (find some of his activities in the text above)?
