I. Reading
The text is about a girl from a poor family who wanted to join the children to have lunch in the school canteen. She lived not far from school but she had some reasons to explain her Mum why she wanted to have lunch at the canteen. Firstly, there would be less dishes for Mum to wash. Secondly, she would miss her daughter and would be glad to see her when she came back home. She asked her mother for three days to make her a rice sandwich and write a note to the principal so she could eat in the canteen, too. At last her Mum agreed.

The girl was standing in line with the stay-at-school kids waiting for her lunch until the nun who knew all the canteen kids by heart looked at her and asked who had sent the girl there. And since the girl was shy, she couldn't say anything, just held out her hand with the letter. The nun advised her to see Sister Superior in order to get her permission.

Dear Celine,
Thank you very much for the possibility to visit your town in June. Unfortunately, this is the time when I am having my Independent Tests to enter the university. Is it OK if I come to you in the middle of August?
I'm looking forward to your prompt reply.
Bye,
Larysa
