Introduction

Many factors determine effectiveness of transportation of goods by different transport modes. Different factors influence on choice of transport mode. The most significant and influential among them are frequency of cargo dispatching, delivery speed , reliability of delivery schedule maintenance ability to carry different goods, transportation charge attribute to ability to deliver goods in any place, level of expenses and cargo damage.

One of the most important questions is what to choose: one mode of transport or several to make the transportation faster and cheaper.

In the given course paper automobile and aviation transport will be compared as the best among all transport modes according to the listed above features on the base of determination of cases of reasonable usage of each of them separately and together depending on cargo party principle and taking into account indicators of delivery speed and transportation cost as main.

1. Determination of variations in cargo routes and airports of transshipment

The calculation includes the following options for transportation:

ü The first option - direct air transportation between the original (local) and the final route airports. Transportation includes sub variant regular transportation (by tariffs) and sub variant charter transportation. Charters arranged for shipments of 2500 kg, regular - up to 3500 kg (inclusive);

ü The second option - a direct road transport (for all ranges of items);

ü The third option - Transfer air transportation (regular) of cargo handling node airports. Airports handling options are determined by the task or project developer may be selected independently. In the calculation included shipments to 3500 kg (inclusive);

ü The fourth option - mixed automobile and air transportation of cargo handling node airports. Airports handling options are determined by the task or may be elected by the developer of its own. In the calculation included shipments to 6500 kg (inclusive).

Variations in freight tracks we present in tabular form indicating the airports handling (transfer).

Table 1

Donetsk –Borispol– Rome AT
Donetsk–Odessa– Rome M

Where: A - air through the local airport (charter and regular), DA - a direct road, AT - Aircraft Transfer; M - mixed automobile and aviation. Sub variant charter provides for selection of cargo aircraft (AC) for the corresponding shipments, according to Table. 11. Using the payload shall be not more than 80% of the maximum (0,8 Gkmax), if the distance transportation does not exceed maximum length of the flight with a maximum payload (lmax). If the length of the route is more than lmax, then used the payload is defined as:

Gcp = Gkmax - gkmcf (lr > lmax),

Where

Gcp – commercial payload for lr > lmax, kg;

gkmcf – fuel consumption at cruise flight kg/km;

lr– length of a route.

Commercial payload shouldn’t exceed Gcp and 0,8Gkmax.

Calculation:

1. Mass of cargo 2500 – 4500 kg:

Aircraft chosen is ΐn – 32. Because Lr > Lmax and maximum commercial payload (Gcp) for Lr = 2132 km.

Gcp =6000 – 1,85*(2600-1200)=3410( kg)

Qc (2500 - 4500 kg) is less than 3410 kg and do not exceed 0,8Gkmax (4800 kg), transportation is possible.

2. Mass of cargo 6500 kg:

Aircraft chosen is ΐn – 74T. Because Lmax > Lr and maximum commercial payload (Gcp) for Lr = 2132 km.

Gcp =10000 – 2,2*(2600-1350)=7250( kg)

Qc (6500 kg) is less than 7250 kg and do not exceed 0,8Gκμΰυ (8000 kg), transportation is possible.

3. Mass of cargo 8500 - 20000 kg:

Aircraft chosen is ΐn – 70T. Because Lr > Lmax and maximum commercial payload (Gcp) for Lr = 2132 km.

Gcp =0,8Gkmax=0,8*30000=24000 kg

Qc (8500 - 20000 kg) is less than 24000 kg and do not exceed 0,8Gκμΰυ (8000 kg), transportation is possible.
