Rafael – about me

I spent my childhood in a small town in Fiuggi, Italy. I lived in a large house with my parents, my grandparents and my brothers. I had lots of free time before I started school and my favourite thing to do was hear stories. My grandmother read stories to me as soon as I got up in the mornings – usually ghost stories or adventure stories. I remember when she finished a story, I always said, ‘Don’t stop! Read me another one!’

Two months ago, just before my thirteenth birthday, my dad got a job as a pianist in a famous orchestra and we moved to Rome. Have you ever moved house? At first it’s frightening. Now, I’ve found two friends to hang out with and I’ve joined the school photography club. I’ll never forget Fiuggi, but Rome is a cool place to live.

I’ve never travelled outside Italy, but I’m going to! Next month, I’m visiting London! Thirty students and Mr Branca, my history teacher, and Ms Tella, my geography teacher, are going and we’re all very excited. I’m having a big ‘going away’ party at the weekend to celebrate. I’ve already emailed invitations to everyone and organised the music but I haven’t thought about what refreshments to have yet. I’m sure it’s going to be a fantastic party!
