Edinburg Experience

St Kilda lnsh Marshes Loch Lomond

5. June 28. WhenI woke up after sleeping for almost two days, I felt quiterefreshed so I got up and decided to prepare myself for the night ahead. The first thing I did was to fill a large bottle with water, and put it on the table, next to my bed; then Igrilled some of the meat on the coals, but I only ate a little bit.

I walked about but was still very weak, and I feltmiserable about my sickness. At night I had three of theturtle's eggs, which I roasted in the ashes for supper.

After supper I tried to walk, but I felt so weak that I could hardly carry the gun (I never went out without that). So I walked a short distance and sat down on the ground, looking out to thesmooth and calm sea in front of me. As I sat here, I thought about my life so far.

Not feeling sleepy, I decided to go back to my hut and make some medicine from green leaves and rum. I took some and went to bed. I must have been sleeping all the next day and the day after because when I woke up I felt refreshed, lively andcheerful. And whenI got up,I was stronger than I was the day before, and I knew my stomach was better because I felt hungry.

1. Imagine you have been shipwrecked on a desert island and you are Robinson Crusoe. Think of ways to:

build a hut get food keep warm

2. Put the activities that Robinson Crusoe did in right order.

Building Big

The Empire State Building is the tallest building in New York. It is 443 metres high and has 103 floors. It was built in 1930, and took one year and forty-five days to complete.

The ESB is one of the largest office spaces in the world, but it also has many shops and restaurants inside.

The Empire State Building has 73 super fast lifts. The fastest of these travel from the ground to the 80th floor in only 45 seconds! If you choose to walk to the top, you need to climb 1860 steps.

At the Empire State Building most visitors go straight to the Observatory on the 86th floor. The view is amazing. On a clear day you can see for miles around. Looking at the Empire State Building from a distance is also great. The top floors are decorated with beautiful lights. These change colours every day. Depending on the occasion, the building can be white, green, blue, purple, red or orange!

If you are ever in New York, don't forget to visit the Empire State Building. It offers the best view of New York, and it is one of the city's most historic buildings.
