THE DOUBLE CLUE

An irreplaceable piece of jewelry has been stolen during a social gathering at the home of wealthy collector Marcus Hardman. Poirot answers Hardman’s urgent call and immediately launches an investigation. But days pass with no progress in the case. Poirot idles away his time with the Countess and finds her to be the most extraordinary woman he has ever met, a brilliant thief who is the match of his brilliant mind. Will Poirot be able to experience an impluse and yet not act on it?

1. You are going to read A. Christie story "The Double Clue". Before you start reading, make sure you understand the following words and word-combinations:

* heirloom - a valuable object that has belonged to the same family for many years
