Exercise 6. Combine each of the following pairs of sentences into one sentence using too/enoughwith infinitive.

The coffee isn’t strong. It won’t keep us awake. 2. The ladder wasn’t very long. It didn’t reach the window. 3. You are quite thin. You could slip between the bars. 4. He hadn’t much money. Exercise 7. Work in pairs. Practice the following sentences as in the model.

Model: I saw smoke coming under the door. (horrified)

I was horrified to see smoke coming under the door.

1. I found a complete stranger taking food out of my fridge. (annoyed) 2. I saw a photograph of myself on the front page of our local newspaper. (astonished) 3. I heard that the last train had just left. (dismayed) 4. I heard cries of pain coming from the next room. (terrified) 5. I found that no preparations for the conference had been made. (surprised) 6. Exercise 8. Work in pairs. Practice the following sentences as in the model.

Exercise 9. Replace the group of words in italics by the infinitive.
