CONTRAST - going to-future plan, and will- sudden decision:

• In conversation, going to is often used to indicate a future plan that has been

made before the time of speaking:

I'm goingto see Pat tomorrow - we arranged it this morning.

* Willis often used to indicate a sudden decision, made at the time of speaking:

How can we get to the airport? I know! I'll borrowSue's car!

There are two ways of reporting what a person says:

Direct speech

He said, 'I'm going home.'

'I'm going home,' he said.

Indirect speech

He says he's going home.

He said he was going home.
