Have access to the Father

by one Spirit.”

(i) To the Father

1 Peter 3:18

Hebrews 10:22 let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, with our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water.

(ii) Through the Son

John 14:1-13

1 Timothy 2:5

Ephesians 3:13

3 exceptions in the bible when people were praying to Jesus

Theologically you can address your prayer to any person of the Trinity, and still praying to Father. Except we don’t have examples praying to Holy Spirit in the Bible.

Jesus iv very concrete person, so you can imagine Him.

The normal pattern – pray to the Father through the Jesus by the power of the Holy Spirit. in whom we have boldness and access with confidence through our faith in him. I can speak to Father as if I were Jesus. Only by His death on the cross I have access to God.

(iii) By the Spirit

Ephesians 6:18

praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. To that end keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints,

So there is no praying (genuine) without the Spirit. All prayers in the Holy Spirit.

Galatians 4:6 And because you are sons, God has sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, crying, “Abba! Father!”

Real Christian can’t call Him Father- only hypocrite can do that. Genuine Christian who knows his sins can’t call God easily the Father.

Romans 8:15-17

For you did not receive the spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you have received the Spirit of adoption as sons, by whom we cry, “Abba! Father!” The Spirit himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, provided we suffer with him in order that we may also be glorified with him.

Romans 8:26,27

Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words. And he who searches hearts knows what is the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints according to the will of God.

God speaking to God through the people. And that through repentant people Holy Spirit praying to God.

An ordinary simple Christian kneels down to say his prayers. He is trying to get in touch with God. But if he is a Christian he knows that what is prompting him to pray is also God: God, so to speak, inside him. But he also knows that all his real knowledge of God comes through Christ, the man who was God - that Christ is standing beside him, helping him to pray, praying for him. You see what is happening. God is the thing to which he his praying - the goal he is trying to reach. God is also the thing inside him which is pushing him on - the motive power. God is also the road or bridge along which he is being pushed to that goal. So that the whole threefold life of the three-personal Being is actually going on in that ordinary little bedroom where an ordinary man is saying his prayers. (C.S.Lewis Mere Christianity)
