Economical and Financial Committee

Dressing etiquette also means we honour the dress code, whether it is obviously stated. Here is the list of events where its dress code is supposed to be 'commonly understood' and may not list a dress code officially.

a. A coffee

b. Luncheon / Brunches

c. Afternoon Tea

d. Dinner party

e. Cocktail party

f. Balls & Galas

g. Weddings

(apart from the ones written on the invite, no black, no upstaging the bride etc etc.)

5. A Note Of Caution for Designers / Logos Lover

Dressing Etiquette : For Those Who Love Designers or Logos

Be careful not to be a victim of fashion. No matter how important you are, or your friends are, never attempt to dazzle with the overuse of clothes, shoes, bags emblazed with designer logos. Many believe that the more expensive and designer their clothes are, the more elegant. Most of what is in fashion is not a timeless, elegant style. While most big fashion houses must be commended by their elegant designs, they cannot control how their items will be used. Keep the use of 'logo designer items' minimal or subtle.

The goal here of dress etiquette is to NOT impress.

Thank you for reading 'Dressing Etiquette'!

Economical and Financial Committee

Dear Delegates of the ECOFIN Committee!

We, the Chairs of Economical and Financial Committee, are really glad you to participate in 4th session of Minsk International Model United Nations. We hope that you will enjoy this season's conference and will actively participate in all the meetings. To achieve the best possible resolutions, you must work hard to cooperate with others, strive for the most beneficial result, and come prepared. Also, don’t hesitate to ask questions if you have any.

First, here is a small introduction, telling you a bit about ourselves.

My name is Abigail Ceban Keane and I'm a Brit, currently studying at QSI International School of Minsk in the 11th grade. Though I might be younger than most of the other chairs, I will try my very best to engage you in this conference so that you can leave with more wonderful MUN memories. However, my tip to you, the experience you take from the conference completely depends on your participation, so make sure you to be really enthusiastic and don't forget to bring your bravery with you!

My name is Igor Levchik. I’m a third-year student of faculty of International Economic Relations and Management of “International University MITSO”. This is my fifth conference in which I participate in but as a chairperson it’s the second one. I would everyone who attend MINTMUN feel free and maximum comfortable. Lots of people get stuck and confused while the session. This is one of the main reasons why big amount participants just sit and don’t even try to grasp the essence of the problem. They just waste time doing nothing and because of that debating process becomes less and less interesting. What the conference will be like, dull or unforgettable, it all depends on you.

The Economic and Financial Committee (GA2) was first formed when United Nations first received its charter in 1945, making the committee 70 years old in 2015. Meeting first in London in January of 1946, they made their first decision to move headquarters to New York City in the United States. It is one of the six standing committees of the General Assembly, and is also referred to as the "Second Committee". ECOFIN deals with issues relating to economic growth and development such as macroeconomic policy questions (including international trade, international financial system, and external debt sustainability), financing for development, sustainable development, human settlements, poverty eradication, globalization and interdependence, operational activities for development, and information and communication technologies for development. In addition to these general objectives, which may be applied to all member nations, ECOFIN also considers issues which relate to specific groups of countries in special situation. For instance, Least Developed Countries (LDCs) and Landlocked Developing Countries (LLDCs), often require a unique focus. This committee also works in coordination with the World Bank and IMF (International Monetary Fund) to promote economic sustainability and welfare.

The general topic of this conference is Post-2015 Millennium Development Goals: Challenges to Global Community. In this particular committee we will be discussing these two topics: "Providing Effective Ways of Fighting Highly Infectious Diseases" and "Financial Pyramids: the Root of the Issue and Ways of Eradication".

We sincerely hope that you will learn more about the world around you and acquire a larger and more diverse perspective on today's issues. Make sure you lead productive discussions, are active and, most importantly, have a great time!

Good luck and we will see you at the conference!

Abigail Ceban Keane, Igor Levchik and Galina Pelikhova
