DO-RA Gets Noticed by Dow Jones

Intersoft Eurasia JSC, operator of DO-RA project, a portable ionizing radiation detector with combined dosimeter-radiometer functionalityhttp://do-ra.ru, has been added to the Dow Jones Venture Source database of potentially interesting for foreign investors companies. It should be noted that in the autumn of 2013 DO-RA project attracted funding from the Skolkovo Foundation and Smart Logistic Group totaling $1m.

According to the Dow Jones methodology (http://new.dowjones.com/press-room/), Intersoft Eurasia's profile is currently subject to passive tracking. Active tracking is only used in relation to profiles with existing venture investments, whereas the Skolkovo Foundation is a nonprofit organization.

The project team have already started work on a prototype of DO-RA.Si, a wide-range, cross-platform household DO-RA device with combined dosimeter-radiometer functionality, a solid silicon sensor (Si), inductive charging capability and Bluetooth Low Energy and NFC support.

Intersoft Eurasia was first founded in March 2011 with the goal of developing innovative products for smartphones, and specifically a portable device with combined dosimeter-radiometer functionality, DO-RA. In October, the company became a resident of the Skolkovo Foundation in the nuclear technology cluster and, in December of the same year, a recipient of its first mini grant of $45,000.

Starting from the project launch date, engineers behind DO-RA designed a line of devices for different versions of smartphones and prepared the design documentation for the industrial production of DO-RA based on the Geiger-Mueller (GM) tube and IPC Europe. In addition to this, they also developed a family of mobile applications called DO-RA.Soft-GM with a user interface in 23 languages ​​for the following mobile platforms: iOS, Android, WP7, JavaME, BlackBerry, Symbian and Bada, as well as for OSs: Windows/Linux/Mac OS.

DO-RA has received more than 25 patents and certificates in Russia and the first international patent in Ukraine, with applications for patents in China, Japan, USA, European Union, South Korea and India currently going through the final stages of approval.

At this moment in time, the company has reached a stage of fast growth and is searching for investors to help it start mass production and worldwide distribution of DO-RA devices.

About the Skolkovo Foundation

The Skolkovo Scientific Centre for Development and Commercialization of New Technologies is a non-profit organization founded on the initiative of Russian President Dmitry Medvedev in September 2010. The goal of the Foundation is to mobilize Russia's resources in the field of modern applied research and create a favorable environment for scientific research in five priority areas of technological development: energy and energy efficiency, space, biomedicine, nuclear and computer technologies. About the Project

The idea of creating DO-RA first occurred to me on March 29, 2011 after I finished working on an article titled "Our Radioactive World." Vladimir Elin's first step was to read several dosimeter and radiometer reviews on the Internet. After that, he bought a couple of domestic dosimeters and disassembled them for the purpose of closely examining their contents. And finally, he did a patent search to ensure he wasn't going to create a copycat device. It is when doing this that he realized how original his plan was. His study of the international patent database revealed that no other device capable of successfully combining the functions of a mobile phone with that of a dosimeter-radiometer existed anywhere. To be more precise, similar devices did exist, but they were very different from the concept which was ultimately used to build DO-RA and which later helped obtain a Russian patent for a mobile phone/smartphone-based dosimeter-radiometer. The fact that there were no analogous devices at the time of the patent search and patent application process only underscores the originality of DO-RA. It is for this reason that today Vladimir Elin holds priority over other comparable devices and the right to produce DO-RA utility model. The right of priority was issued on June 24, 2011 for Russian patent No. 109625. DO-RA name originates from the first two letter combinations of the words dosimeter-radiometer, or DO-RA. The Russian and English spellings of the abbreviation are identical, which further improves the name recognition.
