Abstract

This project involves discovering the picture of Kazakhstan car market and automotive industry. The goal of the paper is to find the most relevant automobile for a KIMEP student according to several factors like design, safety and price. This has been done by examining cars from Japan and Germany: BMW 238i, Audi A4, Toyota Camry 40 and Lexus GS300. Through reviewing all of these cars, this research highlights the competitiveness of each one.

Introduction

“I always loved cars. I do not know why,

I can’t explain it to you. It has always been with me”

Carlos Chosn

Owning a car is close to owning a pet. We spend time and do special care to choose the right one to be our dog-like friend in the future. After picking up that beloved car, we try to build kind of relationship: we name it, talk to it, show it off, and sometimes scold it; finally, we even fall in love with it. The author of the above quote, who is the Chairman and CEO of Paris-based Renault, has inexplicable, but at the same time pleasant feelings about cars.

Automobiles are defined as wheeled vehicles with their own motor and places for passengers. Cars have existed for hundreds of years. There is no specific inventor of car in a specific day. The history of cars reflects evolution of innovations, ingenuity, and changes. However, when people address to history, Henry Ford is referred to be the first inventor who created an automobile full of value in 1908. After being introduced with the first car, we have witnessed outgoing evolution of cars in shape, size, and cost.

Vehicles usually serve as a mode of transportation to many people. It is very useful in different situations, circumstances, and many other transactions in our daily lives. Comfort, saving time, and pleasure – all of those tools are provided by automobiles. All these features characterize the necessity of cars. In addition, when you are driving a car, you can get fascinating experience; you can drive fast, feel free, and just relax.

As we all know, Kazakhstan is trying to enter into top-50 economically competitive countries in the world; surprisingly, our country is coping very well with it. Kazakhstan is already on the 51st place. In parallel, Kazakh car market is improving its competitiveness in the world. Down to “credit crunch”, Kazakhstani automotive market showed impressive growth – nearly or more that 25% every year. It is 5-6 times better than in any mature economies. For the country developing in enabling environment, this indicator is a rule rather that exception. Each country has its own specific parameters in own culture: Kazakhstan is not exception, naturally. One of the most interesting features of the car that retails in Kazakhstan is that society is hugely biased on heavy offroaders. This can be explained by the bad quality of the roads, but from the other side, almost all of these 4x4’s are used in the urban and suburban territories. The key to this phenomenon is hiding in affection of Kazakhs for particular car, the Toyota Land Cruiser. This was, in fact, the bestseller vehicle in Kazakhstan for a quite while number of years. The other side of the coin is weakly people are intending to by the same things as their familiars, relatives and colleagues. Unfortunate, it may be defined as Kazakhstan did not pass through capitalism stage in development. The basic function of buying new and luxury cars is to demonstrate wealth. The quote, born on the peak of economic boom, says that “if you want to hide yourself beyond the streets of Almaty – buy yourself a cool luxury 4x4”, has not lost its meaning nowadays. Wide range of expensive and luxury cars on the roads are shocking foreign visitors.

“The car we drive says a lot about us”

Alexandra Paul

Our cars are an extension of our personalities. They reflect our lifestyles and the perception we have of ourselves. They inspire feelings and quite often ignite our passion. Picking up trucks make us feel tough, athletic and in control. Sport cars make us feel so hot and very cool. Luxury cars inspire feelings of elegance, leadership, and often sense of wealth that you may not even have.

Mostly, students of universities attend class full-time, and therefore do not have enough time to work. For whatever reason, many college students do not have much money, so the car that they choose to drive will be a very important choice. There are several features that potential drivers try to find in their perfect cars. First of all, because of young age, it is important existence of lightness, speed and novelty in the car. Second of all, as child is affected by parents, complete safety of a car establishes sureness of security of their child. Lastly, the cheap price is dominating factor that makes vehicle relevant for students of universities.

By analyzing above features and Kazakhstani conditions, I detected possible four variants that can be named as “most desirable automobile for university students”. The firs potential player is Toyota Camry 40. Despite the fact that the origin of the brand is Japanese, this model approved among Kazakhs as “traditional automobile”. The second one is German Audi A4. I chose it for its practicality and moxie. The next car is BMW 328i, which is the fellow countryman of previous model. And the last vehicle is Lexus GS300 of 2000 year.

Consequently, I will research main characteristics of these cars, importing ways them and condition of these car in Kazakhstani environment. As I viewed, we will create a battle of four best models from Japanese and German automotive industries for the most justified results, in order to take out the most relevant one.

Literature Review

In the literature review I chose five very interesting articles. The first of them is closely related to the Kazakhstan car market. It is about car sales, present tendencies, market development prognosis, and behavior of Kazakh consumers of cars, etc. This article, written by Sergey Abashkin, helped me to animate the general picture of our country, which might be related to automobiles. Further, I picked up four articles from websites of car enthusiasts. They reflect main characteristics, differentiating features, handlings on the roads, and design, etc. They assisted me to come up to conclusion finding the most relevant car for a KIMEP student.

Kazakhstan car market

The actual car market all over the world depends on decreasing of abaction (similar to corruption, in other words stealing money). In Kazakhstan, however, this mechanism works differently. Further, I will show it in details.

If compared to the 2009, car park has grown by 55%. The total number of cars registered in Kazakhstan Republic was about 2.5 million. Almost every fifth Kazakh has a vehicle. When our country became the member of customs union with Russia and Belarus, Russian cars started to fill the market. Meanwhile, the general sale automobiles are German and Japanese cars. They share the local market of our country.

Unfortunately, Kazakhstan has not passed capitalism stage yet. This situation leads to demonstration of cars as the attribute of wealth and richness. So, everyone has desire to buy big outlander that shows prosperity. For this reason, the main consumers of automobiles are not only rich businessmen.

For today, the economic situation in Kazakhstan is not reliable enough according to the rate of corruption. State authorities are wholly in this black business. Expensive cars like Gelenwagens and Rolls Royces are bought for this money. On the other hand, middle class people drive traditional vehicles like Volkswagens and Toyotas.

Is there any automobile industry in our beautiful country? Yes, there is. There are several automotive companies like Astana Motors, Bipek Auto and Mercur Group. The companies “Bipek Auto” succeed because Kazakhstan has become the part of custom union. So, the city in the Eastern Kazakhstan, Uskamenagorsk provides three bordered countries with car of foreign brands: Chevrolet, Toyota (from 2013).

The next issue is sale of cars? It is true that not every Kazakh can afford new car from salon. It always happens between consumers and small dealers. Small dealers drive cars from Germany or Saud Arabia, and then sell them for bigger amount of money. However, the importation rate in our country reduced by 23% and was about 111 thousand cars. The other way is exchanging luxury cars for less expensive cars with money compensations.

It is expected that in the near future the local car market will have global change. Middle class cars will be replaced by luxury cars because of development of our country. The public transport will lose its users.

Let me start the over viewing the models from the Japanese model named as “Toyota Camry 40”. It is really beautiful car that approved among Kazakhs as “Traditional car”.

Toyota Camry 40

Let me start from the Japanese model named as “Toyota Camry 40”. It is surprising that Toyota Camry went on-sale in 1983 and has been manufactured till today. That’s because Camry has been very practical automobile. It is all about quality, durability and reliability. They call it shortly QDR. We can say only that the sixth generation of this model delivers these features. The new styling represents bolder lines. Raked out front and rear screens, a longer wheelbase, wider tracks and guard filling 16-inch wheel and tyres provide masculinity and a needed wider stance. The engineers omitted six-cylinders because petrol prices increased. So, this factor might scare away greedy consumers. The growth of sales is expected from export markets like Asia, North America and Europe.

All attributes as MP3/CD, cruise control, air conditioner with pollen filter, etc. are at their places. The problem that concerns me is safety of this model. According to the experts, all models have dual-stage driver and passenger front airbags, front-seat side airbags and front/rear curtain-shield airbags, an anti-lock braking system (ABS) with brake assist and electronic brake-force distribution. In my opinion, these are enough evidences to call this model safe enough.

So, the driving of Toyota Camry is very smooth and soft. Some experts say that this car is for older people ages of 50-55. As for handling, well it’s kind a soft suspension, so you couldn’t expect sport sedans. This car slows down your style. When you drive this car, you feel little less stressful, non-hurry so much. Inside the Camry, you will find quite nice interior. It is functional, but easy to use. It is quite inside. I like this car, but I would prefer it when I will become older.

The next car is Audi A4. Actually, there are not general similarities with the previous model “Toyota Camry 40”. In the contrary, they are totally different car from the expert’s point of view. They reflect different styles. In the next part of my research paper, I will review the Audi A4 in details and try to find connection between past and future models

Audi A4

Presented model of Audi obviously new, it is what you can't see that is most changed. The 2005 A4 is wider and longer but no taller than its predecessor. It's larger inside with the most notable improvement to rear-seat legroom and it has a bigger trunk that is easier to load. The biggest developments are in a wheelbase, which is more than six inches longer than before, and cabin space that improves ride quality and handling.

The engine sizes of 2.0 and 3.2 liters have been revised. Each offers more power and better fuel economy than before. All three transmissions have been updated, also. Despite the modest size of A4 comes well-equipped with leather, moon roof and automatic climate controls are standard. Adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning and a half-kilowatt surround-sound system come standard.

The Audi A4 competes primarily against the Mercedes C-Class and BMW 3 Series. Also in its class are the Acura TSX and TL, the Infiniti G37 sedan, the Lexus IS, the Lincoln MKS, and the Volvo S40. The A4 has on average more passenger room than the BMW 328, Mercedes C300, or Lexus IS250, a larger trunk, more torque, better mileage and standard leather for a lower price.

As the safety history is also big consideration looking at any used car. And insurance of the German Audi A4 institutes for highway safety. This car has highest rating in all crash test categories.

After looking at quote about competitors, I am very interested in BMW 3 Series because it really competes with this model. So, generally, the coming article is about automobile BMW of 328i model. The designs, safety, speed, and of course popularity of the model are presented. However, the big part of the article is dedicated to the history of the model.

BMW 328i

The BMW 3 Series is the company's top seller in the United States and of course in Kazakhstan. BMW is favorite in the marketplace for good reason: It's a well-built, premium compact car endowed with world-class fit and finish, ample power, and a comfortable ride and handling trade-off that is unmatched by most vehicles at any price. And that applies no matter what model or year you choose, as generation after generation of 3 Series enjoy the same benefits despite a constant evolution. This makes buying a used 3 Series a solid bet - there's not a dud model among them.

As for new 3 Series shoppers, the 2005 year represents one of transition. While the coupe, convertible and wagon continue on from last year's design, the sedan represents the new sixth-generation 3 Series. It's slightly larger and faster than the previous 3 Series generations, but lighter and considerably more efficient. It also has a bolder look inside and out, revised suspension and steering, and more interior space. Beyond its improvements, however, the current 3 Series is just the latest generation in a well-bred family of sport sedans.

The previous, fifth-generation 3 Series sedan debuted along with the wagon model for 2006 with a complete makeover. Compared to the earlier 3 Series, it boasted bigger dimensions, new styling, and updated electronics and improved driving dynamics.

The fifth-generation 3 Series sedan was characterized by its perfectly sorted and balanced vehicle dynamics, strong engines and excellent interior build quality. If that sounds familiar, it's because these qualities have been 3 Series hallmarks for decades now. The only notable downsides to the car are limited interior storage space and mediocre rear seat headroom. Buyers might want to pay special attention to the iDrive electronics interface that came with the optional navigation system -- it was considerably less user-friendly prior to 2009, so we suggest playing around with it before signing on the dotted line.

Further, I want to figure out the most characterizing features. BMW 3 series have been top-class cars for whole history of the automotive industry. This car is absolutely brilliant. But firstly, I want to start with negative sides of this car. It have problem with starter and large transmission, not very well to carry 3 passengers in the back seats, the baggage is small and the pedals are located vice versa which is the bit annoying. The biggest problem of this car is the high price of it, but it BMW, what we must expect? Let’s move to good points. BMW has the best engine in the entire world. It reaches 62 miles with one gallon. There are several modes of driving, like sport mode. You can change it by pressing only one button. This system called dynamic system control. One of the best points is that it handles brilliantly in heavy roads. All options are present, especially Idrive system. The quality of the cabin is very good.

We have the last model called Lexus GS300. The meaning of the brand “Lexus” is “defender of a mankind”. Lexus Company is the daughter company of Toyota Corporation. The article is about Lexus GS300.

Lexus GS 300

The midsize Lexus GS 300 sedan always came up short in the personality department. Partly, this was a problem of perception. Lexus initially promoted the rear-wheel-drive GS as a legitimate competitor to the elite European sport sedans, but the car's soft suspension, over-assisted steering and sluggish power train said otherwise. The fact that it cost just as much as its German rivals certainly didn't do it any favors either.

As a luxury sedan, the Lexus GS 300 was more convincing, particularly the third-generation model, which could be loaded with all the latest technology and upscale amenities. Cabin materials were typically of high quality, and everything was put together with exacting precision. Add in an outstanding reliability record and it's no surprise all three generations of the GS 300 proved popular with consumers, despite the fact that the automotive press never fully warmed to it.

Last redesigned for 2006, the third-generation Lexus GS 300 lasted only one year, as Lexus installed a powerful new 3.5-liter V6 in its rear-drive midsize sedan the following year, prompting a name change to GS 350. With the exception of their engines, the GS 300 and 350 are identical.

Upon its debut, there was nothing radical about the third-gen GS 300. Its bodywork was fresh and modern, but followed the same basic lines as the previous model. It was motivated by a new, all-aluminum 3.0-liter V6 capable of 245 horsepower, matched with a six-speed automatic transmission. In addition to the default rear-drive setup, buyers were given the option of all-wheel drive. With either drivetrain, acceleration was acceptably brisk (with 60 mph coming up in the 7-second range), though the heavier GS 300 AWD model felt soft off the line. Power delivery was undeniably smooth.

Lacking the adaptive suspension of the V8-powered GS 430, the Lexus GS 300 offered little inspiration when pushed around corners. Instead, it excelled as a highway cruiser, carrying itself with grace over most road irregularities while shielding its occupants from most outside noise. This made it easy for the GS 300 driver and passenger to settle back into its plush seats and enjoy the optional Mark Levinson sound system. An intuitive control layout contributed to the GS 300's relaxing nature.

Major standard equipment on the GS 300 included HID headlights, leather upholstery, wood trim, dual-zone automatic climate control, stability control and a complete menu of side, head and knee airbags. Options included DVD navigation, a rear backup camera, adaptive cruise control and the PreSafe accident preparedness system.

In a 2006 comparison test of all-wheel-drive luxury sport sedans, a Lexus GS 300 AWD brought up the rear in a field of five. "With a V8 and the right options, the 2006 Lexus GS is a good sport sedan," our author wrote. "Give it a V6 and a softer suspension with all-season tires and there's less to get excited about. Luxurious and capable, the Lexus didn't have enough personality to stand out in this crowd."

To summarize, I will say that GS is more about style. GS has beautiful design. It has detailed interior: new touches of control panel that keep interior free.

We reviewed all models. And I totally agree that each of them characterize different lifestyles. If Audi A4 is more about safety, the manufacturers of Lexus GS 300 paid significant attention to the design of the model.

I spent great time with car expert Zhasulan Khassenov in the nearest lounge bar. We talked about his automotive organization and I asked some questions related to my research question. So, it is time to listen opinion of the expert.

Interview

Zhassulan Khassenov - the co-founder of the largest automotive organization named as "CarsKz". For today his community scores 42 thousand members with different cars. He gathered all motorists of Almaty together. All this suggests that Zhassulan at least experienced in the field (automobiles), and this makes him an ideal candidate for an interview.

Bekbolat: -Hello there, Zhasulan!

Zhasulan: -Good evening!

Bekbolat: - I've heard a lot about you, and today I am lucky enough to talk to you. As the co-founder of "CarsKz", tell ne, how it all started? What inspired you to create such a project?

Zhasulan: -Well, It all started back in 2010. I graduated from KIMEP, found a job and started earning money. So my adulthood began at all. However, something was missing. I had not hobby, I had not something that will interest me and make engaged fully. It all began simply. As usual, I with my friend Azat Omarbayev came to auto-party. There were so many cars, it was fun. And then we thought: It is obvious that there are a lot of motorists in Almaty and it will be good idea to extend the number of motorists, why not? Thus was born the concept of a Car club. We assembled a team of enthusiasts. Created a community of Vkontakte (Social Network) and started to promote our club in various ways. In the first month, there were about 300 subscribers. We made a party in "Nurly-Tau" in honor of the club. In next parties we organized demonstrations of automobiles, shared experience and just relaxed in general, had a fun. We were happy that we share a common interest. And today we have 42,000 official motorists in our community.

Bekbolat: - I am so impressed. I am sure you had a difficult path and achieved success. By the way, I think you became an expert in automobiles and you know something about the car choice of our youth.

Zhasulan: -Maybe (smiles)

Bekbolat: -Then, if you do not mind, let's imagine the situation. In this case, you are a student; you have budget in hands of 20,000 U.S. dollars. You need to buy a car of the middle class. What 4 cars would you choose that cost about this money?

Zhasulan: - So, honestly, for $ 20,000 you can buy a very nice stylish car. The first car will be Lexus GS 300. Of course, it will not be made in 2010, but we can found second-hand of 2004 in a good condition. The second car ... I would give my preference to Audi A6. It is a very practical car and is popular among young people. And of course, I would take Toyota Camry 40.

Bekbolat: -And what about forth model?

Zhasulan: - Let it be Hyundai Accent. This car maybe small enough, but it doesn’t give away German automobiles.

Bekbolat: - You know, our choices are very similar. Since I am writing a research paper on the Kazakhstani youth choice of automobiles, could you tell more in details: how did you choose these cars? According to which criteria?

Zhasulan: - As in current case I'm a student, for students It is significant the look and design of the car, it is the main criteria for selection. And as it is a time to do crazy things, drive and adrenaline, the speed is also important in making a choice. I think almost everyone can see basically every day: young people are competing with each other in speed on the roads, and for this reason this attribute is very important.

Bekbolat: - And did you have any experience in operating these machines? If there is, could you tell us more about it?

Zhasulan: - At the meetings and departures of our club we often drive cars of each other to get a new experience, and I drove all these 4 models.

Bekbolat: - Which car made best impression on you?

Zhasulan: - It is not easy to answer to this question. In fact, each of these machines has its own advantages, which distinguish it from other models. For example, Lexus considered as luxurious in terms of operational system of the machine, and it brings an aesthetic pleasure, you feel yourself as pilot of jet.

Bekbolat: -What can you say about other cars?

Zhasulan: -Even if Audi A6 is not leading model by technical characteristics, but its’ ratio is perfect for a car of this type - the rapid acceleration, good governance at sharp bends and excellent brake pads. As for the Toyota Camry, the name of it speaks for itself. It proven by many drivers in Kazakhstan, the car became a canon of Kazakhstan's automotive market. Toyota Camry 40 is a first car for majority young people in Almaty.

Bekbolat: - I'm sorry for interrupting you. But, in my project I mention all of these machines, except of Hyundai Accent. So, what would you tell us about BMW 328i?

Zhasulan: - In fact, (laughs) I forgot about BMW, this magnificent herd of German horses. Although, this model is too old, BMW is a symbol of luxury and is regarded as the standard of German quality, so with dignity 328i can compete with modern models.

Bekbolat: - And can you describe in details, what makes this model different from other cars?

Zhasulan: - This is a powerful engine, the sound of which makes people jump in surprise.

Bekbolat: - I think most young Kazakhs will stand with you in this matter, so we can consider you as an authority in the field. Thank you for the opportunity to survey your community in VKontakte and a special thank you for the time for this interview.

Zhasulan: - Thank you; it was very interesting to talk to you.

Conclusion

Which car is the most relevant to student in the university auto park? My research paper question sounds like that. It is obvious that I did not spend time in the library reading novels. On the contrary, my work started next to the monitor of my personal computer. My ability to search reached the level “Advanced”. I managed to choose four beautiful, fast and not expensive automobiles to make an auto competition. They are German titans Audi A4 with BMW 328i, and Japanese pearls: Toyota Camry 40 and Lexus GS300. I planned to choose the car according to design, safety, price and mechanical characteristics. The first thing that came to my mind is visiting websites of automotive companies of these cars. It is obvious that sellers will only praise their own product. So, I decided that it was bad idea. I visited several pages in the internet and found articles with critics written by car experts. In these articles, I did not find the best one, however the features of each was written in details.

The first one was about Toyota Camry 40(2005). Camry 40 is the best seller in North America. I will add that it also popular in Kazakhstan. People named it as “Traditional Kazakh Car”. The fact that this model started manufacturing in 1983 and did not lose its consumers is surprising. The engineers paid attention especially to quality, durability and reliability. They call it shortly QDR.

The second article argued that the aristocratic BMW 328i (2006) is the most beautiful car of the XXI century. Maybe the design is important factor, we must promise that other factors as mechanical characteristics and price exist. After reading the article written by Jack Biddle, I realized that it might be so called “First and Furious” in my research paper. However, I did not rush to the future. It is time to think objectively.

The third car, suggested by my dear friend - Nurzhigit, was Lexus GS300 (2004). This model is considered the most luxury car in Japan. In my opinion, this car may be considered as the most beautiful. However, mechanics and safety of this car do not sound so luxurious.

The fourth suggested auto is Audi A4 of 2005. I gave a name “Mr. Practicality”. Audi A4 is the only car that I managed to drive. It is good at turning and stops. Maybe it is best car to learn how to drive an automobile. In my beliefs, design and engine of Audi A4 are at the high level.

After reviewing them I realized that each of these vehicles can be named as “First and Furious”. Then, I tried to animate the general picture of Kazakhstan automobile market. I found a great article written by Sergey Abakshin. It is all about sharing market in Kazakhstan. I learned that not everything changed after capitalism stage officially ended. People buy cars to demonstrate their wealth and richness. So, it might be seem that roads are filled with Gelenwagens and Porsche Cayennes. However, in fact, the middle class population drives automobiles like Volkswagens and Opels. After entering into customs union, Russian cars play as significant role in the market as German as Japanese cars. I found that the city Ust-Kamenogorsk has local automotive factory. It manufactures cars of foreign brands like Chevrolet and Toyota from 2013.

After the literature review, I took an interview from Zhassulan Khassenov, who graduated from KIMEP. Why Zhassulan? I have an answer for this question. Zhassulan is the co-founder of the largest automotive organization in Kazakhstan named as “CarsKZ”. We had a nice talk in the local lounge bar “Ack Obama”. Zhasullan gathered all motorists of Almaty together and created community that has 42 000 members. He told me beautiful creation history of “CarsKZ”. As he is surrounded with cars, I thought he would know a lot about them. So, I introduced him to my research project. We talked little bit about automobiles generally, and then he shared ideas about features and characters that make each car different from others.

What did I learn new from him? Lexus is about aesthetic pleasure, feeling like you are the pilot of jet. It has excellent operational system. Audi A4 leading model by technical characteristics: the rapid acceleration, good governance at sharp bends and good brake pads. Toyota Camry 40 is car that became a canon of Kazakhstan’s automotive market. The last car is BMW 328i. The standard of German quality speaks for itself.

By taking into consideration all of the collected data, I have come to the following conclusion. I nominated each car by it’s main characteristics. So, Audi A4 is “Mister Safety” for its car crash results. Toyota Camry catch the reputation of very slow car, its name is “Soft car”. According to the design, I nominated the Lexus GS 300 as “Stylish man”. And, finally, the BMW 328i is the most relevant car for a KIMEP student. Of course, it would be really cool if real experts try to find the most relevant car for students. But until then, I want to recommend BMW 328i.

The model is one the BMW 3 series. It is all about smart design and strong characteristics. This car looks like real gentleman. From one view it is car for a young person who likes high speed, and from other view it is car that can be used for business meeting. I will present BMW 328i that will cover all points to be “First and Furious”. Firstly, you can fully trust to the safety and security. It has Anti-lock braking system, Advanced Safety System for integrated deployment of passive and active safety features, airbag supplemental restraint system with advanced technology, adaptive brakelights, etc. The mechanical features are 2.0 liter, incline 4 Cylinder engine and 240 horse powers. It has 8-speed automotive transmission, and variable sport steers. In my opinion, these factors make it the most powerful iron horse for the student.

Data analysis

By analysis all collected data in this research paper, I came to the conclusion that BMW of 3 series is the most relevant car for KIMEP student.

Why? There are several factors to call it “First and Furious”. The smart design, that makes it beautiful, is the main feature. The second thing is safety and security from car crashes and accidents. Thirdly, it is attractive price. As it is scheduled, the approximate price of the car is 15 000 US dollars from second-hand sellers. And finally, the survey showed that the BMW is the first car that most of student chose (BMW 328i – 52%, Lexus GS 300 – 30%, Audi A4 – 9%, and Toyota Camry – 9%). So, these features make the research paper concluded.
