Comenius proposal 2014-2016

“Adopt me l am an immigrant students.”

The necessity of this project has its origins in the need of enhancing the motivation for immigrant students and make them Active Citizen for Future

Project is based on orientation of immigrant students with traditions and folk dances

Project Interests
Impact of lifestyle and the knowledge of immigrant students · Students will discover other European cultures and sharing theirs. · Students will learn their traditions from their own folk dances and will have a chance to meet them face to face and interview. · Students and teachers will have a chance to see other students’ adaptation and the problems of orientations. . · During each Visit, teachers will see immigrant students, traditions, and contribute their knowledge of different nations.
Aware of being an immigrant students · Students will be supported to be an Active Citizen by learning their folk dances and traditions. · Students will find out some of the expressions of other language · Students will learn to be a conscious citizen by learning their and traditions and they will be active in lessoms more · Students will learn their and partners’ National dance · Students will find out the written and unwritten rules of the community. · Students will observe and compare local recreation areas available.    
European friendships, partnerships and unity · Students will collect favourite recipes of home-cooked meals. · Visiting teachers will show Students in host schools how to make traditional food from their country. · Each school will prepare a folk dances so that each school can invite families to watch it so that teachers and partners have a chance to see cultures and traditions.. · Students will meet each other by email, video conferencing, and at an International Student Council meeting.
Empowering students   · The partners will keep a Blog throughout the project. The partners will do the ice-breaking activities at the first day of each visit to interact and socialize with the students from other countries.
Project opportunities
Raising European Awareness · Each country will study the farming standards exercised by European Union laws. · Visiting teachers will observe eating habits and sports activities in participating countries.
Staff development · Visiting teachers will observe lessons, tour schools, and visit surrounding areas to gain an understanding of context. · Visiting teachers will have an opportunity to deliver a lesson to a group of students in the host country.
Enhancing ICT capability · Each country will establish the use of simple and affordable technology to communicate via the internet between and during visits. · There will be a Project Website, blog and Facebook Group. · Video conferencing will enable us to have international Student Council meetings.
Possible timescale
Year 1 Focusing on History and Traditions September 2014 · Mobility 1: 3 teachers, including each Project Leader, from each country visit Partner 1. Focus of visit: Project Planning · Exchange of school information. · Planning for two year project cycle, including design of website and set up of ICT requirements. · Allocate to each country the responsibility to lead one of the 5 Activities. · Detailed preparation for Activity 1: Logo Contest
Autumn 2014 Activity 1 – logo contest in each institution - on-line voting: contest for the logo of the project · - writing articles about the project in school magazines/local newspapers ● Learning the culture, traditions of their city and a presentation of important traditions of partner countries ● National emblems and signs ●Setting up, launching of the web-site of the project containing: presentations of partner countries, regions, towns, schools, team members; results; participants' Impressions of the meeting in the first Visit ●link creation from schools' sites to the project web-site
February 2015 · Mobility 2: 2 teachers and more from each country visit Partner 2. · Focus of Visit: Deliver outcome of Activity 1; Planning Activity 2 The multicultural corner, made in each of the schools involved Presenting exhibition of who we are, in the host country · Detailed preparation for Activity 2:The Legends Collection: drawings, stories, movies, theatre plays
Spring 2015 · Activity 2 – Teachers search for the traditions of their country and present it through a PowerPoint presentation.
June 2015 · Mobility 3:2 teachers and more from each country visit Partner 3. · Focus of Visit: Deliver outcome of Activity 2; Planning Activity 3 · (street arts, songs and dances, costumes and traditions) · Detailed preparation for Activity 3:
Year 2 “To be an Active immigrant students” Autumn 2015 Activity 3 – e.g. Teachers are going to make a presentation about how to orientate immigrant students active in the class. · Each partners will learn about the traditions of each country. · Interview with the oldest person in their city who witnessed the immigration problems · At the end of the first year students will be learnt the culture of each country and they’ll comprehend how hard they get accustomed to new lifes and we conclude that We all have to be an Active Citizen to get accustomed.  
February 2016 · Mobility 4:2 teachers and more from each country visit Partner 4. · Focus of Visit: Deliver outcome of Activity 3. Planning Activity 4 · Teachers may present their own country to a class of host students. · Host country holds a Travel Fair – other countries can participate by video , pp presentation or arrange stalls by ornamenting them materials such as posters, photos or journal to publicize their country as tourist destination so the host school can run a Travel Fair for parents and friends. · Detailed preparation for Activity 4: National games /Folk dances /Traditional dishes as an element of culture and tradition(in case the activity takes place in Poland) · The preparation for dictionary, and a short summary of the most important historical events for each country.
Spring 2016 · Activity 4 – e.g. Collect National games/National Dance. Learn about the cultures,traditions and rules of a typical national game/ or sport and National Dance or cuisine · Multi-ethnics calendar: specific dances, songs, costumes or cuisine belonging to different ethnics · Multi-ethnic corner, in each of the partner schools
June 2016 · Mobility 5:2 teachers and more from each country visit Partner 5. · Multicultural Festival, with traditional folk songs and dances or cuisine of different ethnics and a costumes parade, organized in the host country · Teachers teach each other how to play a game from their country. Sports Day including sports from each country. Student Council celebrates the 2 year project.
