The College of Applied Mathematics

Chernivtsi National University, one of the leading higher educational institutions in Ukraine, was founded on the 4-th of October, 1875. Rector of institution is Merited Worker of Science and Technology, Laureate of State Prize of Ukraine in Science and Technology, Academician of International Thermoelectric Academy of Ukraine D.Sc. (physics, mathematics), Professor Stepan Vasyliovych Melnychuk

The College of Applied Mathematics

The College offers 4-year (Bachelor degree) and 5-year (Specialist and Master degree) programs (full-time, part-time and external) in:

ü Mathematics

ü Mathematics (Statistics)

ü Applied Mathematics

ü Social Information Science

 

In 1920 the Department of Mathematics was founded at the College of Sciences at the Chernivtsi University, in 1940 - the Department of Mathematics at the College of Physics and Mathematics, in 1968 - the College of Mathematics, and in 2004 - the College of Applied Mathematics.

 

There are five departments:

 

o Mathematical Analysis

o Differential Equations

o Algebra and Information Studies

o Applied Mathematics

o Mathematical Modeling

 

The College has a laboratory of information and computer technologies, four computer classrooms with the most up-to-date hardware and software and the Internet access.

 

The Faculty numbers seventy-two academics, including nine full professors and thirty-nine associate professors. They do the research in the theory of equations, the theory of functions, mathematical modeling and the application of modern information technologies.

The demand for our graduates increases every day within and out of Ukraine.

College of Arts and Crafts (Vyzhnytsia)

The college was founded in 2004 on the basis of Vyzhnytsia Applied Arts School named after V. Shkribliak as non-affiliated subdivision of Chernivtsi National University named after Yurii Fedkovych.

 

The college trains students majoring in:

 

ü Arts and Crafts:

ü Artistic wood-carving

ü Artistic metal engraving (jeweler's art)

ü Artistic forging

ü Artistic weaving

ü Decorative embroidery, clothes design

ü Fine arts and drawing

ü Wood-painting

 

The college comprises the departments of: Arts and crafts and Fine arts and drawing

The faculty, represented by 24 instructors of the appropriate university departments, provides teaching of Humanitarian and Socio-Economic subjects.

 

The teaching staff of the college is doing an extensional research aiming at the revival of traditional Bukovynian folk arts, neglected techniques. The improvement of teaching and educational process is in the focus of the college activities.



 

The faculty and the students constantly take part in regional, national and international art exhibitions.

 

There is an ample opportunity for sport activities and amateur art performance in the college.
