Political System of Russia.

GREAT RUSSIA

General Information

 

Russia is one of the largest countries in the world. It is washed by twelve seas and three oceans. The oceans are: the Arctic, the Atlantic and the Pacific. The seas are: the White Sea, the Barens Sea, the Okhotsk Sea, the Black Sea and others.

Russia borders on many countries such as Mongolia, China, Finland, Norway and so on.

There are all the main types of climate on the territory of Russia except the tropical one.

The Russian Federation has no equal in natural and mineral resources. It is rich in oil, gas, coal, iron, gold and many others.

The land of Russia varies a lot. Forests, deserts, high mountains and deep valleys are found here. The main mountain chains are the Urals, the Caucasus and the Altai. There are a lot of great rivers and lakes on its territory. The longest rivers are the Volga, the Yenisei and the Lena. The country has a great history and culture. Russia is a multinational country.

Russia is a federal republic with President as Head of State.

Political System of Russia.

 

Russia is a democratic federative state with the republican form of gov­ernment.

The state power in Russia is carried out by three independent branches: legislative, executive and judicial.

The President of the Russian Federation is the head of state. The President determines the main directions of home and foreign state policy. The President is elected by the citizens of the Russian Federation for 4 years and his power is limited to 2 terms. The Presi­dent forms his Administration and appoints the Chairman of the Government.

The legislative branch is represented by the Federal Assembly which consists of 2 chambers: the Council of Federation and the State Duma. The State Duma is composed of 450 deputies and serves for a 4-year term. Each cham­ber is headed by the Speaker.

The executive branch is provided by the government which consists of the Prime Minister, deputy chairmen and federal ministers. The government provides the implementation of financial, credit and monetary policies.

Justice in the Russian Federation is exercised by courts. The judicial power is carried out by means of constitutional, civil, administrative and criminal legal proceedings.

There are many political parties in the Russian Federation.

Moscow

Moscow is the capital of Russia, its administrative, economic, political and educational centre with a the population of 9 million people. It was founded in 1147 by Yury Dolgoruky. Moscow is a hero-city. It played a very important role in the great Patriotic War. Our capital is an industrial centre with highly developed engineering, electric, light and chemical industries. Moscow is also called a port of five seas. Moscow metro is one of the most beautiful in the world. Red Square and the Kremlin are the heart of Moscow. Many important events take place here such as parades, demonstrations, concerts.

There are over 80 museums, the famous Bolshoi and Maly Theatres. It is known for its beautiful old cathedrals, churches and monasteries. Moscow is also noted for its art museums. The most popular of them are the Tretyakov Gallery and the Pushkin Museum of Fine Arts. Moscow is the country's largest sports centre. It often becomes a scene of in­ternational sports festivals.
