5. Do you want to see more graffiti around town? Why (not)?

Recently another kind of art has appeared. It is called graffiti and it is favoured by the young people mostly. At first graffiti was considered to be an example of anti-social behaviour. The first graffiti appeared on the walls of poor neighbourhoods. Many people look upon graffiti as the work of vandals that should be punished by fines. Since those days graffiti has changed a lot. Nowadays it has a status of street art. Today many companies realize the appeal of graffiti at advertising because it has energy. Personally I don’t mind to see graffiti around town, because I think that it is great, it is a sign of our time.

Topic My Family

I believe that everything has it’s beginning in the family. Family is very important for every person, because it gives you a sense of stability, tradition, support and understanding. It’s an emotional centre of people’s lives and a transmitter of culture. It’s great to have a family!

In happy families parents are frank and honest with their children. They treat their children with respect, without moralizing or bossing them all the time. And children in their turn learn how to treat other people, how to form friendship with their equals.

It’s nice to live in a friendly family! In a friendly family people are gentle, respectful, and loving. They always share domestic chores because ” many hands make light work”. They also share sorrow and joy, views, opinions and difficulties. In a friendly family people enjoy each other’s company and come to help if necessary. In such families people try to avoid conflicts. But if a conflict takes place they try to release tension. They are tolerant to each other. This is my idea of a friendly family and that’s how my family of 4 is built.

We are a family of 4: my……..

My dad is in his early fifties well-built with dark hair and brown eyes. In the heyday of his youth he was fond of…..

My mother is…..She is interested in her work, she’s a good professional and enjoys from her colleagues. My mother also does a good job of being a mother. She means a lot to me. She makes me feel loved. Sometimes she can be quite stoical about things, quite philosophical, but it’s always an optimistic kind of outlook, always hopeful that things will turn out for the best. She has got this ability to strike the right balance between giving advice giving a helping hand. Mum and me are very different. Sometimes I’m a bit pessimistic and see things in black and white. But she shows that life is full of grey areas as well.

I can say, that mum is my best friend. I can cast all my troubles and concerns to her in fullest measure.

As for my sister( brother….

I enjoy the honest and open relationships in my family. I like it when my parents trust me, give me freedom, rely on me and respect me. These things in my opinion make my family relations warm and pleasant. There’s no “fathers- and-sons” problem in our family though we sometimes argue or disagree on certain issues. But if a conflict takes place we admit it quickly and apologize willingly. I’m happy I can cast all my problems to my parents in fullest measure. The little world within my family is perfect and nothing can discourage me.

A family in my opinion is not only a group of people sitting in front of a TV set. They should have much in common and their family traditions. We have family traditions. Apart from observing national holidays we celebrate the birthdays of each member or the family, give presents to each other on New Year day and on some other special occasions. Its also our family tradition to spend our summer holidays together either at the seaside or in the country, where my grandparents live. We all like to travel by car.

We have a family album with photos of my ancestors. Thanks to these photos I know a lot about my family tree, whose descendant I am. All this gives me the sense of family honour and pride.

Topic About Myself

I’m always at a loss when I’m asked to speak about myself. , If I just give a brief account of the main events of my life such as my name( by the way it’s….) the place I was born (which is Orsha), my age (Its not a secret yet….), details about my education it only sounds superficial (ïîâåðõíîñòíî) as curriculum vitae ( êðàòêàÿ áèîãðàôèÿ).At the same time it’s evident people are more interested in my character, behavior, manner of thinking, ideas and other things like that.

And here I have to deal with two problems:

Firstly, how far should I go into revealing myself and secondly what can I do to be objective towards myself. But I’ll try to be as objective as possible. First of all, I’m a sociable person, as I get along well with many people. And I believe in friendship, as I think that a true friend is a precious jewelry box, which holds keys to our happiness and kindness. Although I’m a communicative person, I have only one real friend, as I think that a friend to all is a friend to none. And I’m also an objective person. I enjoy going out with my friends, attending a sports centre, travelling and listening to music. To be honest I don’t understand people who spend their free time sitting glued to the TV screen and watching soup operas.

Some words about my character. My friends say that I’m open-minded, cheerful, helpful and sociable. My teachers and parents say that I can be stubborn at times. I personally think that I’m more persistent than stubborn. I do my best to achieve my aim and I never do anything by halves. I thought a lot about my future profession in the end I realized that my strongest desire is to continue specializing in humanities and learn foreign languages in particular.

It’s noteworthy that people have always wanted to look at themselves from aside that’s why they turn to personality tests for help. One day I came across such a test. According to the tip at the end of it, sometimes I’m very emotional, other times very matter-of-fact. When I’m with my friends I relax and let my feelings show. Then I can be myself- with big ideas, dreams and a romantic imagination. It suggested that I should stay natural and shouldn’t bog down with fantasies. Well, I quite agree with it.

Some people prefer astrology to psychology. Though I don’t trust it very much. I’m curious about it’s predictions. Astrologists assert that ne can learn a lot about themselves from star signs.

Mine which is……. Claims that I’m….
