There are two state universities in the city – the technical university and the pedagogical university, and also other 15 educational institutions.

A place with which it is necessary to begin acquaintance to the city is a memorial complex the Brest fortress – the Citadel. Begin with this place not only because it is a heroism symbol but also because the city history begin here.

The fortress has been constructed in 1842. Later on its territory has increased, and became stronger in some times. Today the Brest fortress is first of all tells about heroism of defenders who resisted the German Army, blocking the further approach.
