Belarus invites Pakistan to cooperate in oil, gas production

ISLAMABAD, 10 November (BelTA) – Belarus invites Pakistan to cooperate in production of oil and gas, Belarus’ Prime Minister Andrei Kobyakov said after a meeting with Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on 10 November, BelTA has learned.

“Belarus invites Pakistan to cooperate in the production of oil and gas. We guarantee not only an exchange of best practices but also participation of Belarusian experts and specializing companies in oil and gas projects in Pakistan,” Andrei Kobyakov noted.

He believes Belarus and Pakistan can boost their cooperation in manufacturing, power engineering, logistics, communication, and biotechnologies. “The establishment of joint pharmaceutical and IT enterprises may significantly contribute to this,” the head of the Belarusian government said.

Andrei Kobyakov pointed out that a large delegation of Belarusian businessmen came to Pakistan to take part in the third Belarus-Pakistan business and investment forum. “A special feature of this forum is that regional businessmen have come up with initiatives. We hope that the forum will initiate new mutually beneficial projects,” he stressed.

Andrei Kobyakov believes it is time for Belarus and Pakistan to open new avenues for cooperation. “I am convinced that Pakistan can become a gateway to South Asia for Belarus, and Belarus – a gateway to Europe for Pakistan,” the Prime Minister emphasized.

The official visit of Belarus’ Prime Minister Andrei Kobyakov in Pakistan will last from 9 to 11 November. It is expected that he will meet with the President of Pakistan on 10 November. The Belarusian Prime Minister is scheduled to attend a ceremony to inaugurate the Belarusian culture center at the National Library of Pakistan.

After the official visit to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Andrei Kobyakov will go to the Republic of Turkey on a working visit on 11-12 November. The Belarusian Premier is expected to meet with the Turkish authorities and top managers of Turkish companies.
