ART&FACT

"Atelier Recyclage Transformation & Formation Arts Couleurs à Thann"

Target :

Every French-speaking grown-up avid to promote an eco-responsible and eco-citizen approach, wishing to develop or to perfect technical and artistical skills, and to share, exchange on the common European cultural heritage.

Activities :

Exchange, share, discover the art and the traditions of the polychromatic painting in Alsace and in the countries of the participants to the workshop ART&FACT:

· Collecting and sharing of the motives for the traditional polychrome painting (floral motives)

· Discussion about the practices of the tradition of furniture painting, link and interest with the re-use (or recycling) and the modes of consumption in the countries of the participants

· Work on the techniques of preparation of objects for the first coat of paint and applying of motives

· Approach of the pictorial techniques or printing (stencils, pouncing patterns…) and of techniques used on the wood (acrylic, oil, alcohol, casein…)

· Study and practical exercises on boards (used as reference).

· Realization of a personal object and a collective work.

· Work on the specific linguistic directory in the artistic discipline (tools, materials, textures, volumes, objects, colors, motives, perceptions, sensations…)

· Valuation of the " green growth " network of the territory, the citizens’ eco-responsible and insertion approach (visits of recycling firms, meetings, discussions)

· Create an exhibition of the realized individual objects and the collective works (cupboards with European floral motives or object in the choice of the participants)

· Realization of a press-portfolio and on-line publishing on the website of the Community Emmaüs of Cernay and of the Maison de l’Emploi et de la Formation du Pays de Thann.

Expected Results :

The persons who will participate in the workshop will acquire and develop additional skills in their French language ability, their knowledge of the French culture and the Alsatian cultural specificities.

The capacities and the artistic skills on which we suggest working should offer to the participants the possibility of being equipped with basic techniques in polychrome painting on wood and metal and with preliminary preparation of objects.

The exchanges, the meetings, the discoveries of places, of the other one, of the polychrome art should allow each of the participants to enrich his "aesthetic capital". It will also allow them to draw from this European cultural perspective, new resources and to develop capacities to evolve in an intercultural context.

The workshop should also allow the participants to re-question their relation to the object and to position themselves, if necessary, in a citizen approach of eco-responsibility.

Finally, the meetings and visits enclosed on the program will link the world of the social integration and the sector of the re-use (recycling), the parallel between inanimate objects in search of a soul and excluded people from the society in search of social and professional identity.

This workshop is the result of a partnership : Emmaüs - Cernay, the House of the Employment and Training Thur Doller, the Syndicat Mixte Thann Cernay and the Studios of Art of Vieux Thann.
